Weird problems! Assistance may be required!

Hey guys,

After having my new build (see sig) for around a month or two now, I'm extremely happy with it, I didn't know which section to ask for help, so Intel General seemed more fitting than motherboards!

I'm getting some weird behaviour with most of my devices, I'll list the device and the problem:

ASUS External DVD/RW - I don't know whether it's the USB ports, cause they are all completely dodgy, but it randomly turns off and on, then off, then on, and I left my computer to download overnight, woke up today, and WOMPH, 1237 windows of "Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion" Launch manager.

Evidently, left the disk in overnight, but this shouldn't matter, should it? The External drive is located on the top 2 USB 2 hubs on the motherboard.

R.A.T 5 Cyborg Mouse - Upon start-up, my mouse freezes, completely, sometimes for 2 seconds, sometimes for 2 minutes, in the end, I just unplug it and plug it back in and it seems to work. But I have no idea why... I've reinstalled the drivers countless times...

Western Digital 1tb USB 3 external HDD - This isn't really a big issue, neither are the others, as I can still do everything I want. But seriously, it's getting on my nerves now. Anyway, the USB 3 ports this is plugged into are located on the USB 3 I/O ports on my 650D, where 2 internal USB 3 cables run through the case, to the back, and plug into the motherboard (silly I know), anyway, this drive turns off whenever I plug another HDD in. Especially when using the hot swappable bay! Which is really frustrating, as it also turns off the internal Western Digital 1tb 7200rpm 64mb cache 8ms blah blah... Or it has it's own individual problem, turning off when using hot swappable drive. Resulting in having to restart my computer countless times.

XBOX 360 Controller - Plugged into the front I/O located on the 650D behind flap. Whenever I'm playing games, mainly happens in Oblivion, I go to save a game, and when I enter back into that game, the quick menu comes up, over and over again, even when I close it it just returns, then I have to restart the game etc.... It works fine on my xbox, and on my AMD PC, I've reinstalled all the drivers, and it's still buggered, have no idea, unless the USB ports on my sabertooth are goosed.

All these issues are USB port related, so something MUST be wrong, I've installed all the new drivers, reinstalled them, flashed the BIOS... Everything... What else can I do? Or are all these things normal, and there are no work arounds?

All my devices work perfectly in my AMD System... 100% of them, so no suggestions that all of my devices are goosed, I know they aren't, they're all brand new.

As always any input is greatly appreciated!

I know you said you installed new drivers, but have you confirmed it through the device manager? Are there yellow icons on any of your USB controllers?

Start -> Right Click Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager

Thanks for the reply, yeah, there are no yellow icons on my USB controllers. I did check this before, but just double checked now, seems to all be in order. :S

I doubt the device would even detect if his controllers were improperly installed. As bad as it sounds, you may want to consider reformatting and seeing if a fresh start doesn't do you some good. Otherwise it may be a hard fault in the actual usb controller.

It is possible your motherboard is unhappy with something you have attached to a USB3 port. Recommend unplugging everything from USB3 ports and using USB2 ports for a test. Refer to motherboard manual for port locations.

Did I forget to mention this is also a new install? I have tried everything ! And yes, I've tried to isolate the issue, but it seems to happen regardless of what is plugged in at the time.

I've even tried unplugging the USB 3 cable, which I had to route through my case... I don't understand, and I was just wondering if anyone has had similar issues? And has any solutions that don't involve trial and error haha.

But I guess that's all it is, is trial and error eh?

So you said it affects most of your USB devices, but not all of them correct? You can plug in something else..say a mic...and it works fine?

Also, has this been happening ever since you've built the rig, or is this new, ever since you left an internet connection open ll night long???

Have you tried to either do a disk check, or a malware scan?

All the devices listed above still work. I can still use them as normal, but it's just upon start up, or changing HDD's, or putting disks in the DVD/RW.

They still all work. It's just they don't always work as they should.

Microphone is absolutely fine, no problems. Mouse at the moment, is absolutely fine (it's just on startup). So is my keyboard. So it MUST be some form of driver issue... that hasn't been resolved yet?

I've done a disk check, no errors, done a full scan of my system, no malware/viruses...

It's happened since the beginning yeah, still not solved it evidently!

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys, I wonder if it's just the motherboard? I don't even think it's faulty, I just think it could be the motherboard, had trouble with the motherboard since the start too.

Triple posting etc... sorted all that out now though. Still can't get an overclock on it.
