How much more hours of blend

Thread Starter
Hi,

so i decided to give my Pc a torture test in prime95 and i left it running for 17 hours, so i'm wondering how much more time should i left it run to be "stable" and do you have any pointers for me, so i could reach 4.2 Ghz, i tried running it at 21x200 but temps jumped to 97 in 2 min. Looking forward for your answers

Wow 17 hours. I've never done more than 12 hrs I think. Play some CPU intensive games on that baby.

I'd call it stable, just make sure you can play all your games. Torture stable =/= gaming stable
post #4 of 10
3-8 hrs is plenty. NB gets stressed pretty tough around 3 hrs. The longer the better. You better watch the temps. Under load, I would not push much past 85 most say under 80 my friend.97 is kind of insane, you will delegate the chip at that temp.

Overclocking is not that simple. Stable for making is not recommended. Although stress tests does not mesn the system is 100% stable, it does prove some stability. A unstable system can mead to data or operating system corruption. FYI.

Could you please tell me which are "CPU intensive games" ?? I have installed Dirt3, CoD : Black Ops and the newest Medal of Honor on max settings, with max AA and MS, no BSODs but i think this only stress the GPU and while playing games the CPU load never reach 100%.

Ok thx, but i'm just testing the current settings since i will be reaching the 4.2 GHz mark, the only problem i see is the temps getting insanely high at 21x200 as u can see in the pic below

I'm not sure about the games that you mentioned, but I've always heard GTA IV and Mafia were very CPU intensive games. StarCraft II also gets pretty slow in the 3v3 and 4v4 games if your CPU isn't great.

I wouldn't go out and buy games just to test out your CPU. I say use it like you normally would, and if you find any instabilities, adjust your OC accordingly.

I've had worker fail after 14hr, so I'd say at least 24hr blend.
