I go 60/70 -20 all the time and 56-6 is easily attainable against a the current trend of noob teams. Hell I would have got even more kills in this round if I wasn't against the top rated player in the world (flithy). Proof

I would say on average, maybe, the top players usually are 18-25 kills, every once in a while i'll see a low 30 but here is what tells the story for me, the deaths. The same players who gets these kills will also have anywhere from say 10-15 deaths. I watched this person(who went 53-6) in the next game as well and had like a 20-0 run before quitting or got booted, not sure which. Either he was hacking or just scary good!
i have clan mems that do scores like that on a daily basis, quite annoying cuz i cant =[. one of them went 98-10 and was mad cuz he didnt hit 100 before the round ended, made my day that it pissed him off

1. Leveling-up is unfair: When you start, you are very disadvantaged compared to the veterans. For the assault class, you have no scopes on your guns and it takes forever to unlock them. For the recon, you don't have magnum ammo and it takes 2 body shot to kill even with the M95, even in hardcore. It is a little frustrating to be killed by the enemy in one shot while not being able to do it. For the engineer, all you have is the basic RPG which can't do much against choppers. Speaking of choppers, how do you take them down without having an AA gun? Any class effective against them?
Don't rely on scopes, it's a crutch. Magnum shots on sniper rifles don't really help as much as you think it does. M95 sucks, scoping is very slow and shots are less accurate than SV98, GOL, and M24. Choppers can be taken out with a well placed Gustav or RPG, tracers help a lot but if they're good with the chopper and have smoke you're toast unless you got a good AT4 user. Don't be like all the other idiots and choose the Medic class and shoot with your MG at the chopper. It doesn't damage the chopper but if you manage to get good hits you can take out the gunners but it's not worth waisting your 200 rounds on.

I am wondering if aimbots are common of people just insane with their guns? I play only on PunkBuster servers.
Aimbots are not common, but you will see them once in a while. Control your recoil and time your shots and predict where your enemy will run to. There is bullet drop in this game, it's not point and click like most shooters.

I highly recommend turning off Bloom, it helps a lot in the desert maps.

Use the DPI you're most comfortable with. I use 800, 1200, 1600, 1800, and 5600 DPI settings on my Naga. Each for different reasons.

I always play without V-Sync being on, I always know when V-Sync is on. Some people get annoyed by the tearing effects but I find I play better with V-Sync always off.

Don't expect to do well against most veterans. Many have 500+ hours of gameplay, many know the battlefield much better than you do. I know all the hiding spots of people who are sniping. I know where to counter snipe, I know where to attack from, I know where the weakest and strongest points are, you will soon learn this soon too when you get enough hours in. Knowledge of the terrain is a great advantage over any new player.

And believe it or not, many of us still use the starting weapons. Yes, I still use AEK and XM8. I still use RPG, though I use the Gustav and AT4 for different situations but I still use RPG the most because it is more versatile than the AT4. I use the M24 starting sniper rifle, sometimes I use the GOL and the SV98. I don't even bother with the M95, the scoping is slow and IMO the accuracy sucks compared to the stock M24. I use the M9, Grach, and 1911. I don't even bother with the Rex or M93R, the Rex is powerful but slow and the M93R Burst well sucks really bad unless you are right in front of the guys face point blank. By the time you can shoot twice with the Rex accurately I can do more damage and shoot more bullets out of the Grach or 1911.

I get what you are saying. But a few things here, you are clearly in a different league than these other players(according to the scoreboard) you are scary good! But everybody else K/D ratio is about what i said in an earlier post as far as being average(remember, from my experience) even though you had 89 kills, you did have 30 deaths. something else here and this is more of a question, but wouldn't it also depend on how many players are playing? would 8 vs 8 be different than 16 vs 16? more people playing = more chance for kills and deaths?? Me personally, i'm getting a little better every time but i die more but i think it's because i'm trying to blow up the M-coms and achieve objectives + helping out my squad VS. just trying to kill people. One last thing, Youtube is filled with videos showing people cheating at this game and they put up insanely good K/D ratios which is why i see a red flag sometimes.

Beginner?

Auto-Shottie is your friend, use it until you unlock the guns and perks you want.
I used auto-shottie until I unlocked everything and went platinum(10 gold stars for the OP).

Well your clearly more skilled. I was like that in COD4, anything less than 45 kills I was disappointed. In BC2, I'm more of a team player so I complete objectives and win games while others are whoring kills and points. 20-35 kills with 2500+ points is fine for me. Not saying you don't attack also. If I had a group of teammates I could rely on then I'll still back longer to capture objectives and rack up kills.

The only hackers I've seen were around this time last year when people had wall and auto aim hacks.
I haven't seem much of that lately. Some people are so good, I just tip my hat to them at the end of the match.

I have little rampage moments here and there also.

First of all it takes time to get the hang of the game but the game really isn't that difficult. I play hardcore only and its easy as hell to go 30-5 or 50-8.....without sniping.

As for getting a lot of kills that isn't that diffucult either once you get the hang of the game....

Altho we all had to start at level 1 so I see no unfairness with the leveling, personally I have every platinum star with the assault rifles and to be honest there isn't a huge difference between them you can own noobs with all of them, but yes some are slightly better than others.

When you get the M2 rocket launcher as an engineer, and after lots of practice, you can very effectively take choppers out of the sky on your own without even using a tracer dart. (If you hadn't come across one yet, a tracer dart pistol can shoot quite accurately and if it lands on the target, rockets fired at it can be heat-seeking.)

Aimbots aren't common. The leveling has quite a bit to do with it; generally, their bullets are twice as effective as yours, but skill is the real deal breaker. When you get used to the curvature of the bullets you're firing at x-distance, you'll find you're catching up. I'm what you could consider a veteran of BC2, and I find I can still top the scoreboards when using starter weapons/upgrades.
It's all about practice, which is a great thing about this game. Unlike so many games on the market, there's alot of room to improve your skill.

Quote:
3. Brightness and contrast: Is it me or it is very tough to find a settings that works for all maps, I have a Samsung 46" D630 in PC mode (no lag). I lowered the contrast to 30 to be able to see the enemies in the shadows. I cranked the brightness to 60 to compensate.
This is one thing I dislike about the game. In snow and desert stages it can be extremely difficult to see sometimes, because of this. Also, on scopes there is more glare than there would be for say, a mortar strike.
It could be worsened by your television though. Playing an FPS on a 46" screen makes things difficult as is. A game like BC2 especially, should be played on a 22-24" monitor.

Quote:
4. Mouse: I have a cheap mouse. Inland wireless for my HTPC. I play on the couch on the arm rest. I am quite comfortable. I placed the USB received with a good orientation to ensure no signal loss. How important is the mouse DPI? What would be an affordable wireless (8ft+) gaming mouse? What sensitivity should I use? Mouse acceleration?
If you don't notice any problems, there probably aren't any. The more you play, the more particular you will get, though.
I really do recommend playing upright in front of a monitor though; the way you're gaming right now will seriously hamper your ability to play well.

Quote:
5. Vsync: I like it on to remove tearing, what kind of lag are we talking about? Do you guys play without it?
Nothing major. Your 46" television is probably creating the most lag. If you removed mouse-input lag, monitor lag, and vsync lag, it would probably amount to a noticable difference; probably 15-30ms.
I can't stress enough how much your television scenario is likely to effect your gameplay, though.

Quote:
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
One last thing that's important in BC2; if you're not in a vehicle, and even sometimes if you are, don't stop moving unless you're hiding. Always be doing one or the other. Always try to make it so that if they see you, you see them. It's a big warzone, and there's almost always someone looking at you when you're in the open.

KDR is for nubs who don't take risks to get their team a win.

Ever suicide bombed a tank on a buggy just to make sure your team isn't supressed? Jumped out of the back of a helo to drop down behind enemy tanks to blow them apart? Sacrifice yourself as a destraction? Take the time to get behind the enemy to arm an MCOM and cause confusion allowing your team to get to the other mcom?

That's what really matters. It's a team-based game. Going into any game for all the glory is selfish and stupid. If you manage to come out with the best SCORE (not even KDR, but score) because you helped your team out, good on ya.
