New to wc / would love some input - Page 2

well most crunchers isolate there cpu entirely.

The reason is, its always under load 100%.
So they want the most control to it.

Also if a pump should fail, u can take a break in gaming, but takinga break in crunching means u losing your spot in ranking....

And a lot of crunchers dont like that notion at all..

From what I have seen from my setups, my GPU's crunch (folding) MUCH higher numbers than my CPU (Nvidia 8800 GT alphadog) compared to my AMD B55 X4 4GHz and my Intel C2D 3.5GHZ (E7300). If your folding, you may WC your GPU's and leave the CPU on air or H50 it. If you really like the look of the case so much, go external rads. My Antec 900 is horrid for a WC setup, but it's workin fairly well for me. (One 240 internal rad, dual bay res) CPU only loop.

True true ... It's a good thing I posted here first or I could have been in for A bad first experience with water cooling

Everyone (well most everyone) here at OCN is here to help, and friendly as long as you try to learn, don't ask them to hand feed you. We are all here to help everyone get the best system they can get, one person at a time, and I'm sure you'll be helping others as you learn too. liquid is a fun thing to have (usually not needed, just a fun thing) but it's something you can't take lightly when learning at first. I hope your first setup goes as well as mine did as I am typing this in it with my sig rig.

yeah but who wants a le car? so to speak...

Or who wants a unmodified shelby cobra?

I for sure dont... if im getting a shelby, i want to customize the tires, and i want to customize the paint... and so on... thats what makes it fun.

And what were asking u to do is that exactly... but we will tell you.. yes this will work, and no that wont work.... and u will learn why it wont work.. and why it will work.

That way we dont eat half your fun in picking parts, and you learn at the same time.
