My comment refers to a person that buys a 1100T instead of an i5 2500k, because they dislike Intel, and I'm sure I can find a few examples of that on our forum. Or a person that bought an 1100T solely for gaming while a similarly priced i7 920 or i5 750 proved better for that usage. Other than that, before the release of SB, 1100T offered the best price/performance for multithreaded tasks. Also AMD usually offers better performance at the lower sections of the market.

As for Intel's forcing their CPUs on OEMs, I'm sure that they have payed every cent they owed with all the antitrust fees they were forced to pay. And rightfully so.

Besides, if you look at the marketshare of Intel CPUs, you'll see that it had a major increase after 2006, when Intel started to use its better architecture. So as you see, those deplorable past deals were not all that profitable for Intel, and it was really the better CPU architecture that Intel has developed that caused the situation we see today.
THIS

crapburst was getting whooped by the superior K8 arch
but eversince the core series AMD hasnt changed their arch much since 2003 (iirc), so naturally intel is winning. theyve change their arch with core series, Nehalem, and SB.
hopefully bulldozer and llano will change things (and they will )
