can't change CPU Voltage in BIOS

Thread Starter
I have gotten my 965 to OC at 4.0, and is stable as far as Prime95 is concerned (ran over night) and only hit 53C. Now i want to try and push it a little further, and wanted to make sure i can to it stable by ensuring i can change voltage. I want into my BIOS and am unable to change any of the CPU voltages. I am running my CPU on the MSI 890FXA-GD70, and am fairly happy with what i have done with it, but I want to go further. Any help?

BTW, I have the V 1.9 BIOS, flashed from V 1.7.

I find I have to press shift and + to add and just - on its own to subtract. You can also type in the desired voltage once you have the voltage highlighted. Type auto for the auto setting (some boards come with voltages set to auto).

I know we have differing boards but you never know, little things like this can sometimes be of some use to someone, lol.

Maybe you need a BIOS update?

Can't say I have any experience with this board to be honest, so i can only guess.

Sorry I'm of such little help. smile.gif

Make sure nothing that concerns the BIOS on the board is locked.

now that ive stopped beating my head against the table. i ended up using the wrong +/- buttons. so, i set my cpu vdd to 1.5625 (only .0125 over stock), and started prime 95. a few minutes into it, my computer crashed, and now BIOS shows i only have 4096 Mb of RAM, instead of the full 8192 Mb. I guessing i burnt one of my sticks. The thing is BIOS still sees both in the slots, just not all of the space. I pulled out the sticks and reset them, and to no avail still the same amount. just as an added note...i had my ram oc'ed and after a memtest of faults i uped the voltage on that to 1.55 (.05 v over stock). what do ya think
