Must not be used to buying anything related to a PC. You can spend hundreds of dollars on great hardware and within a few years what you bought is either average or completely obsolete.

It sucks but as already mentioned seven times, its exactly what happened with your HX1000.

The last time I checked they have not redesigned electrons. This PSU still will do the job it was designed for.

The point of his thread was to prove that the HX1000 is not "average" or even "mediocre". I mean, it was intended to defend it because it has had some nasty things said about it lately.

I can't blame him, though: no one likes bad things said about their stuff. However, I agree that it's annoying that he keeps ignoring the fact that by today's standards (I'm looking at you, PCCstudent), it's nothing special. There are plenty of superior alternatives that basically make the HX1000 a waste of money today.

PCCstudent, I grant you that the HX1000 was fine when it was new. No one is going to take that away because we can't. However, the fact remains that it's not worth buying today because it just pales in comparison to what's available now for basically the same price.

Anyone buying this for a brand new system (not a system that was hot 2-3 years ago) is wasting their money.

I appreciate that you want to defend it because I'd be doing the same thing. However, the fact remains that anyone shopping for a PSU today would be wasting their money if they were to purchase the HX1000.

Thats when I got mine. As I understand it at the time it was a top notch PSU as were my GPUs. Given how fast tech moves these days both my PSU and GPU have now fallen into the out dated and as a result mediocore status.

Its a shame but thats just how the cookie crumbles.

I never asked if it was worth buying a new one today. The comments I read made me think that the PSU was some kind of hazard to have around and I could not see how the simple fact that better PSU's comming online make the Corsair a hazard.

I am not sure what is a bigger waste of money... Buying a HX1000, or buying a HX1000 to power OP sig rig.
