Android users use more data. I believe on an iPhone you can download/update apps through your computer. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Likewise! It's very frustrating that they can get away with this as it is, and the sad thing is that there's really nowhere else to go. In my area, everyone but Verizon has poor service.

Especially if that android user downloaded a tether program to use the unlimited data, which in turn wrecked it for the rest of us that just use the data on our phones.

Whats the difference between downloading something thru my phone, and downloading it thru my computer tethered to my phone.

You think its a good idea to pay more for the same data?

I never said it was a good idea to pay more for the same data, you are twisting my words. What I said was that when people tether their phone with tether programs that use more data than normal smartphone usage would be, thus the higher usage. That in a nutshell, wrecked it for us smartphone users that just use the data (which is unlimited on the handset alone) on the device, not as a gateway to the internet with other devices. Oh and using such programs circumventing the carrier is a breach of contract on the consumers part, its called loss of revenue.

I was saying that I believe on a iPhone you could download/update apps on your home (residential) internet through your computer's internet connection.

Android users didn't ruin this. The FCC ruined this by allowing two wireless companies to control the market. If we had six major wireless competitors we wouldn't be seeing this.

Good point, I never thought about the folks that tether, but it makes sense on why the data usage is so high.

Exactly. My point is that people that are tethering are wrecking it for those of us that are not. They are abusing the intentions. Explains why the rates/prices are going up.

You're totally ignoring the real issue here. Verizon can do this and make more money then before because their is little to no competition in the wireless market. You would never see a wild change like this in a market were their are multiple competitors.
