Well I swore I'd NEVER play an FPS game on a console. In fact I normally only play racing/flight, and games like Uncharted and such, and the PSN games that are good. I stick with my PC for my "hard core" gaming.

However, since all my friends seem to play on PS3 and have been BEGGING me to buy Black Ops (I'm a BF fanboy, hate CoD) I finally gave in. $55 for the game and $30 for the DLC (christ all mighty...). I gotta say though, the zombie part made this game worth it, and being able to play with people I know also make it worth it. It's actually a good game, but I'm sure it's even better on PC. If it wasn't for the Zombie gameplay though I would have never bought it. Now if Left 4 Dead was on PS3 I would have gotten that instead, just to play with my friends.... Even though I own both of them (all of valves games actually) on PC.

I'm just the black sheep in the family/friends as a PC gamer...

Yeah i recently helped a friend build his first gaming computer. He hasn't touched his ps3 since.

To the guy above me, my friends used to play blackops, and i got a copy for my ps3 for that and i gotta say....i have no idea how people aim with analog sticks.

Noo. You're on a computer enthusiast site. I thought you would've known better than that.

You can simply buy a 150 dollar GPU, pop it in your prebuilt that you already have, and game. Lotsa better than any console.

I have to say, being a console gamer for the better part of my life, I can't put them down...I do agree that it is because of consoles pc gaming get's the short end of the stick a lot of the time (console ports, lackluster exclusives, NOT putting Alan Wake on the PC)... I used to own all the consoles....eventually it came down to one...PS3..and I keep it because of exclusives...but, after building my first computer, even with a gtx 560ti I have to tell you my eyes were open and the mouse and keyboard became my weapons of choice!

I have nothing against consoles, but if devs really focused more time and , effort on the pc..more people would jump into pc gaming...I, personally, prefer it far more than consoles..it just feels better..And with the prices of some cpu's, gpu's, you can build a very great investment that does everything

We don't need to upgrade consoles or anything, thats backwards from what is needed. We need games to launch via dual boot on a PC, so your not hindered by the OS sucking up resources. Then we can have graphics cards and stuff that can be "PlayStation Certified" or something so that the drivers are optimized.

Right now PC's are held back by being bloated and having too much hardware variation to optimize the games, which is the only reason why Consoles can come close to hoping to compete with PC's. We don't need our consoles to become PC's, we need to replace consoles altogether, as it is more suited to being a PC add-on.

No more expensive consoles you have to wait 10 years to upgrade, there can be games of almost every genre and quality out there, games will not be held back by aging consoles, instead, you'll get a GPU thats "optimized for PlayStation 6.7" and then there can be periodic upgrades to the core "console OS" and updates released on which hardware can play what games.

I think that would be best, and push development ahead much faster. Graphics settings will allow people to play newer games on older hardware until they NEED to upgrade and then they can just pick which GPU or other component they need to play the games they like, and are waiting for.

I mean seriously, PS3 is using what? 4870 quality graphics? I think if Consoles went to Software from hardware we would see double the quality of realism we have now minimum... Time will tell.

Consoles produce grasphics ussually on par with a budget gaming rig...but minus the monitor and TV the budget gaming rig will be about double the cost of the console. Maybe only 50-75% more if you use used hardware and/or catch some really good sales. Though if you have to add on a copy of windows...then your price goes up even more.

If the next gen of consoles has support for mouse and keyboard I will probably be done with PC gaming...probably...

Uh, no. First, factor in that everyone has a PC, so that's a price by itself. Add another $200+$300 and you have a system that's twice or three times as powerful as a console. The Xbox 360 runs a 7800GT or something, right? A $150 GTX 460. I don't think I have to tell you how much more powerful a 460 is.

To be fair, I don't think PC gamers have any idea how nice visuals can be on the consoles. With 6 year old hardware, they can produce things like Uncharted 2/3, God of War 3, Wipeout HD, Gears of War 3, Red Dead Redemption, etc.
I do have an idea. I own an Xbox and a PS3. The difference is, PC gamers get higher resolutions, more anti-aliasing, higher resolution textures, and higher framerates (60 FPS is considered smooth for PC games, consoles run games at 30 FPS, often dipping to 20s.)

Console gamers often sit 10 feet away from their screens, which accounts for a lot of the finer details. It's oustanding what kind of visuals consoles can draw with their old hardware, but it's even more outstanding to imagine how great Uncharted or God of War might have looked without all those hardware restrictions.

Wipeout HD even runs at 1080p, which is astounding.

Yes, PC graphics can be better, but it requires significantly more power to do so.
This would be a viable point, but they can only do that because they can optimize the game to the point it will run 60 fps without question a pc is harder to do that on because of the hardware differences.

So add that to your ~$300 computer, divide by 2 and what you have is an Xbox360 and $25.

Anyways realistically , around $500 is a budget gaming PC and that doesn't even get you a monitor, peripherals and most important an OS.
