[EVGA] 2.5 gb GTX 570 HD - Page 5

lol what i dont understand is that im running a single gtx260, and i seem just a bit shy prob bottlenecked by ram and stuff but i can run 95% of current games at better than 1920x1080...this almost seems like a return to super high prem stuff where its simply no where needed, but super cool to have. not worth the $$$ IMO

Yes but this will allow them to push the limits.
I own a 570 and while I agree 1280MB is enough for 1600P I think its JUST enough.

Newer games that use ubersambling and tessellation can use large amounts of VRAM at super high resolutions, 1600P and above is what this GPU is for, and in triple SLi if they can be had for $365 or so a pop it's going to really shake the top tier bracket up, 570's are 320bit and no joke beastie GPU's.

If I return my 570, Newegg will likely charge the 15% restocking fee. I don't think I'll be able to step-up because it's still a 570, just with more memory. BC2 doesn't reach 1000MB maxed out, but I'm worried BF3 might stress it a bit. Maybe I'll step up if the new 6 series comes out?
Actually i have read at bf3blog.com (not the official blog though) that the Frostbite 2.0 engine is better optimized than the 1.5 (BC2) and therefore any rig that can play BC2 will play equally well on BF3.

It seems like if this is true, all the plans of all those people who are upgrading for BF3 might not be very necessary if they can play BC2 with good framerates.

Not sure what games you're playing but for crysis and modded oblivion I easily run out of memory and have to turn AA completely off at 1600p. Yes there are plenty of games which still only use 1gb or so, but I'd hate to buy a card today expecting that to continue for long. These cards are a good alternative to the 3gb 580's and the 2gb AMD cards, for the price of 2 3gb 580's you could probably get 3 of these, which would probably perform better. I'm always surprised it takes them so long to come out with them though. As the 64 bit windows playerbase increases so will the change of higher vram cards becoming the norm. I just hope that the top of the range kepler comes with at least 3gb standard.
