Wow, that's good news. I guess I wont bother lapping it at this point. Thanks for the info.

This is because without looking in the BIOS there is no way to know if you overvolted or OC'd it. As far as they know it was just a faulty chip.

Yeah I think lapping will be seen much less these days (although I do love the look of mirror finish copper when I take my cpu cooler off)

I have the same batch as you, I was able to get 5.1ghz stable with with 1.440v for about a couple hours, however getting prime stable 12hrs+ required a bit more Con gratz

OK, I spent an hour last night replacing the h60 fans (corsair and coolermaster) with two high speed scythe pmw 120s. I also ran to the hardware store and picked up some longer 6-32 screws, and some 1 inch nylon spacers. I wrapped the sides with duct tape to form makeshift fan shrouds and seal everything up nicely. I also changed the flow direction to pull cool air from outside the case, but since my case temps are usually cool anyway, I might go back to exhaust mode.

My latest results are idle temps around 26c, and occasionally as low as 24c. My full load temps were about 71c in prime, so I decided to up the multiplier one more to 48. I was able to keep the voltage offset at +.025, giving me a load voltage of 1.400. This resulted in max temps around 77c in prime, and about 70c in real world and h.264 encoding.

A 4.8 GHz daily driver is a nice place to be, and Im really pushing the performance of this little h60. Im considering going with the new h80 instead of the h100 since i can easily mount the single 120 radiator, but finding room for the 240 would take some serious case modification. I guess we'll see how the reviews look once they're finally released.

Just read that I was supposed to apply arctic silver vertically, unlike my old core 2 duo and quads. Im thinking I could have dropped the temps by a couple more degrees on core 0 and core 3, since those are hottest now.

Well, no matter now. I should be receiving my rasa rs240 kit tomorrow. No doubt in my mind this chip is gonna coast into a 5GHz+ 24/7 overclock with ease once its under a proper waterblock.
