If you don't mind paying for multiplayer: Xbox 360.

If you do mind: PS3.

If you want to easily hack your console: PS3.

If you want to have to mess with the motherboard in order to hack your console (not hard, but it's a lot harder than PS3's hacks...): Xbox 360.

If you want good singleplayer exclusives: PS3.

If you want good multiplayer exclusives: Xbox 360.

If you have a good tv for bluray: PS3.

If you still use HD DVDs: Xbox 360.

Price difference isn't much I think anymore, plus you could just buy the console used from gamestop, ebay, or from a member on OCN in the market.

Red Ring happens, but it has never happened to me. The only people that I have heard it happening to (people that I talk to irl) are the people who like to play 24/7. PS3 has it's own issues to, like yellow light, etc. The only friend that I have that owns a PS3 actually get that error on his PS3, but sony only made him pay the difference between the fat ps3 and the new slim model (which I think was less than $100), because they didn't make the fat ps3 anymore.

Both consoles are great in their own ways. If you're a multiplayer guy, the multiplayer exclusives IN MY OPINION are better on the Xbox 360. Killzone, sure it was fun, but I honestly would prefer Halo or Gears of War any day.

I also prefer the Xbox 360 controller, the controller fits your hands perfectly. The PS3's is small, but it does the job. Plus if you really care that much they sell PS3 controllers that are the same shape as the Xbox 360's now. I haven't seen them personally but I've heard of them.

I honestly sold my Xbox 360 to pay for my gaming PC, and some issues with my friends where they decided to be dbags, so I had no one to play Xbox 360 with anymore :/. Our family console is the PS3 slim, and I play Killzone on it ocasionally, it's pretty fun but I get bored of it easily. I honestly love Little Big Planet, Ratchet and Clank, etc, because I find those single player games fun.

Just my little input on this, that's all...

If I had to choose, Xbox as well. Multiplayer seems to be nicer in comparison to PS3 it seems. Graphics are a little nicer on PS3 I think, but overall experience is better with 360. However PS3 does have bluray. I use it often.

This is so wildy overexaggerated I just cannot contain the laughter inside of me.

Firstly, PS3 vs Xbox 360 has never happened, ever (it would certainly be the first I have heard of it, care to share the game played? And how it was all set out? Any source?).

Secondly PC vs Xbox 360 was Shadowrun. It was a fully fledged retail title that is still (as far as I know) played today. The only thing it lost was dedicated servers on Windows side and voice communications between the two platforms. I'm not sure if it ever got eventually shut down but as far as I know it was going until at the very least late last year. A good three years minimum.

Not bad for a failure eh?

Also from what I remember (I played Shadowrun when it was released on Xbox 360) alot of PC gamers complained about console players having too much auto aim to compensate for lack of being able to aim like a mouse. They can't have been doing that great to complain so much.

The game didn't do well because PC gamers wanted an even playing field, yet in wanting that they wanted an uneven one. It was FASA studios inability to find the right balance between the two platforms that was the ultimate downfall of Shadowrun, (and in the end FASA studios aswell) rather than anything to do with "hardcore gaming".

Funnily enough it sold well over ten times more than the PC version. But in the end nowhere near enough to become a hit.

Mouse and keyboard is also a possibility on consoles however. There's numerous third party devices that allow mice and keyboards to be used for gaming and the PS3 supports mouse and keyboard (just no developer except Epic actually made use of it).

It's less about the ability of the hardware and more about the mentality of the players regarding balance.

Ask your friends which one they own. Don't get a wii, it's fun for the casual gamer or when you go over to your friend's house to play but it won't suit your needs. Buy the console your friends mostly play on

I own all 3 of the next gen consoles. While PC is my main deal, I do boot up the consoles on occassion. I mainly keep them for exclusives (Gears of War, Demon Souls, Lost Odyssey, Zelda) But 360 is my console of choice, simply because I have more friends that play it compaired to anything else (unfortunately I only have 2 friends that play on the PC, I'm the only nerdy one of my friends =\\).
We play drunken mario kart. Take a drink every time you get hit by something, 2 if you fall off the map, and finish your drink if you come 12th.
