Good coop-mode split screen games? (like Rainbow Six Vegas 2)

Thread Starter
I have family coming over for the summer and he really enjoys playing the split-screen coop mode in Vegas 2. I'm not the biggest fan of this game but I have to admit the coop-mode is quite fun. The only other similar game I experienced was Modern Warfare 2.

Any others to recommend? (Xbox 360 please)

Here's a list of all SS co-op games for the 360, sorted by user ratings.

Borderlands is my personal favorite if you/he hasn't played it.

Edit: There's another checkbox called campaign co-op. I'm not sure how that differs from couch co-op.

Thanks guys. Borderlands looks a little too cartoony for us. We really like to be challenged.

Between Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops, which has better coop mode?

The art style is the only cartoonish part. The game's very mature, and challenging towards the end.

I haven't played CoD... 6 or 7 co-op, but for what it's worth, I found 6's single player to be more enjoyable.

Modern Warfare 2.

Borderlands is a good game. Don't judge it by its graphics, honestly. You want challenge? Have fun with Sledge. Some of the DLC you'll tear your hair out. At mid to high end game it gets very challenging, both standard game and DLC.

The graphics actually grow on you aswell. smile.gif

Borderlands is a must buy if you want a co-op FPS. It's one of the best out there for this very element.

Yea I'm sure its good, it just reminds me of L4D which we weren't crazy about. I may still give it a try.

I know this isn't the right word but we really like "realism" or tactical shooting.

That's fair enough.

Not sure if Operation Flashpoint has local co-op but you can always look into that.

Ghost Recon games for definite. The co-op on those is good and the DLC packs are really good value for money.

If you liked Vegas then definitely give the sequel a go. You'll get perks for achievements earnt in the first game aswell.

Modern Warfare 2 has good co-op, I enjoyed it.

If you don't mind backwards compatible games from the Xbox then Conflict Desert Storm 1 & 2 are a must.

Yea, I edited my post to Vegas 2 which is the one I already have and enjoyed.

Right now I have my sights set on GRAW 2 and MW2. I remember Conflict Desert Storm. Played that with friends years ago. I had good times with that one. I may revisit that one again. Thanks for the recommendations.

GRAW2 is a good choice, but if you want to play online you may find some waiting times for games nowadays. People do still play but not as many as when it was released. Also co-op has no weapon model. Just a reticule on screen.

I think for the US you can get Conflict Global Terror backwards compatible, though you'd have to check the list for that one. There's also Conflict Vietnam aswell.

You could also try Splinter Cell: Conviction. That's more shooter with stealth, than stealth with shooting. It's a blast for co-op campaign, and deniable ops and has a similar, but tweaked, unlock system from Rainbow 6 Vegas. If you want a more stealth based co-op game you can get the Insurgence pack for Conviction, or download Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on the Xbox originals marketplace.
