Crucial C300 with an M4 Firmware, apparently best of both worlds!

Thread Starter
There is a guy who updated his C300 0001 firmware to the M4 0002 firmware by mistake and posted in the Crucial forums about this, the link:

http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Solid-St...001/td-p/53064

Here is the AS SSD result he got:

As you can see he's got the IOPS speed of the C300 with sequential speed of the M4!
This is huge news I think, really makes me wanna try it myself but I'm abit afraid

Wow, what a find. This is huge for those deciding between the C300 and the M4.

I wouldn't try this myself. There is a good chance this is a hoax. I'd adopt a wait and see attitude.

But if it turns out to be true then damn!

The 4K random writes looks a bit low, otherwise that looks like a good balance between the two drives.

I'm too scared to try it on mine, at least till I've heard it safe from a few more people.

Nice find!

EDIT: I wonder what the speeds would look like with iaStor installed.

Yeh, all you need now is to find C300 with 0001 firmware.. Good luck with that!

The 0001 FW is from an M4. Apparently the guy had an M4 to begin with...

Surely if there was more performance to be had they would have released the firmware for the c300 to increase their sales no?

I'm quite sure he has an M4 to start with and simply did not notice, it dosn't make sense that he got a C300 with the 0001 firmware since Crucial makes sure all the drives that leave the factory are updated.
