KiddieCorner/Adjacent Cores Running Hotter?

Thread Starter
Very strange, but just got my new cpu and mobo back from Newegg-Rma (brand new)

The only thing i have changed is a added a cooler master hyper 212+

Before when i checked the temps, the first core was always the hottest, and each one thereafter was less cool, one by one.(with Stock Cooling)

But if any of you have the cm 212,youll notice there is this X shaped thingy bracket that holds down the heatsink...

Im worried i tightened either one side down too hard,or applied the thermal paste wrong, because as youll notice in the screen shot, every OTHER core is hot.

Now hot is a relative term,i know...

But being a newbie, can anyone tell me if this is what i should be seeing??

The cooler cores ARE about 5-10 degrees cooler, but the hot ones seem just as hot as before...

FYI- This is at idle

Weird.

Oh an P.S. Can you guys look and tell me if any OTHER numbers are off as well???

I can't help too much, but my cores have always varied every other core. What temperatures are you getting under load?

Those seem to be about right based on my NH-D14. Depending on the ambient, I get anywhere from 25-30 idling stock. Between my cores, the temperatures range anywhere from 2-6 at different times, and they have done so over multiple applications of thermal paste.I'm not sure how a 212 compares to the D14, but I would think that the temperatures would be fairly close at stock.

maybe the past is ditributed wrong? either way those temps look normal to me, and you can only tighten those screws on the 212 + so much before you start drilling through your motherboard, so even a novice user could install it, remember for heatpipe direct touch heatsyncs like the 212+ the line method application works the best, right down the middle where the CPU die is

Well glad to see a fellow 950er AND sumone w/cm212 with similar heating..

I wonder if its just the fact that its a different chip..

The one i sent back was like this usually

Core 0 41 Degrees
Core 1 36 Degrees
Core 2 30 Degrees
Core 3 29 Degrees

Maybe the FIRST one was the bad one or something idk

But in the end,41 degrees max is 41 degrees max, regardless of anything right?

Anyways, while your here, what should i use for Benchmark testing software to load this?
Any suggestions?

P.S. i KNOW,I KNOW my graphics card is lame..But i dont game.. Just want to load the cpu...

That looks normal to me. I thought it was because the IMC is sitting right next to 1(0) and 3(2) and when idle the heat would bleed some but when under load it all evened out.

This difference is towards the larger side, but having up to a 10 degree difference between cores is considered normal. What are your temps under load?
