Wow.. so i used NVFLASH.. (first ver 5.65..detected as 200 series card at 0 (zero) position ( second pcie-slot)

gave me error supported eeprom not found.. !! ARG

then tried 5.5 ver.. didn't recognize the card

then tried 5.9 version and it recognized it as a GTX 295 ( which is 2x275's)

Tried flashing with "nvflash -4-5-6-i0 BFG.rom"

still came up "supported eeprom not found ".. Grr..

Windows is recognizing it in device manager as GTX 295

I feel like i'm maybe getting somewhere, but i dont know how to get past this EEPROM MEssage because i don't think it's flashed

Maybe i should make another topic about NVFLASH :/

You need to override the protection, so it should be nvflash -r -4-5-6 yourbios.rom.
Not 100% sure on that command, I believe nvflash -help pulls up the commands.

Looking like someone may have tried flashing the card and things went south.

If it is in the second slot you might have to tell nvflash which card to flash, like:
nvflash.exe --index=1 -4 -5 -6 newbios.rom

Lol. Sounds like somebody tried flashing it to a 295 BIOS as Grunion said. Fail.

EDIT: If I understand this correctly, it wont even let the machine boot if its in the second slot?

Thanks again for the help guys ! .. Still getting

"supported eeprom not found".. This is driving me nuts, i'm looking at the dam chip !!!

From people having the same problems on different sites, it seems the correct NVFLASH version is needed and some people got rid of the error
- tried every NVFLASH from 5.63 to 5.95
- used everything in the command line i could.. sometimes seperately
" NVFLASH --index=0 -r-j-p-4-5-6 1.rom ( i named it 1.rom bfg bios)

--list still shows gtx 295
--check ( checks eeprom ) "supported eeprom not found"

I'm over at http://www.mvktech.net getting some help also, as well as
this thread http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/1498...ashing-49.html.

MKVtech is quite good, they should get more recognition over there ^_-
especially NIBITOR....

I'm going to be a frickin expert by the time i'm done with all of this. If i get it working i'm doing a write-up for reference.

I found the EEPROM Chip
http://html.alldatasheet.com/html-pd...5VF010A-33-4C- SAE.html

.. Tried jumping 1 and 4 to bypass the chip, nothing so far.

Dam this is getting involved, i'm not giving up yet though ^_-

I did some extensive research and actually have been trying to physically bypass the flash /rom chip.

LOL yeah tell me about it.. !! Machine boots now with the card in the second slot ^_^

I'm still amazed that anyone would try this. I feel like maybe two people had the card before me. Only reason i could think of that someone would try doing this, is to maybe Tri-SLI a GTX 295 with one GTX 275 ( 295 is 2x275's with 260 clocks)
Anyway, thats pretty retarded, i don't know why someone would do that. EIther that or they just fudged the wrong bios.

TY... i tried using --index=0 (shows up as <0> for gtx 295 in second sli slot)

Still doesn't flash.. " Supported EEPROM not found"

Thanks again for the help, i did try to override the protection, still doesn't want to work.

I feel like it's still possible but i'm missing something key.

Ok someone may have overridden the device ID, which can cause some severe problems.

Could you attach the bios you're currently trying to flash, and the current bios of the card.
Someone that successfully flashed a 9800GTX to a GTS250 would know which commands are needed, and what needs to be modified in the bios.

I know of one person for sure, ericeod, he's not been on in awhile, but you may get lucky with a pm or email.

Have you tried disabling the write protection on the currently installed bios?

I also agree that you're close, just have to get the write combination of commands going.
