Will a socket A cooler fit on a 939 system?

I just found a Thermaltake Extreme Volcano Socket A cooler and I'm planning to replace my stock cooler with it, but the 939 heatsink clamp is wider and I can't fit it on the cooler, is it possible to hammer the clamp to the right width so it will fit on the cooler?

Technically yes, lots of people mod different socket coolers for the socket of their current CPU.

Which clamp? the back brace?

is it possible to get a pic of your mobo?

I had a 939 socket but it was from a pre-built so it will probably differ a lot.
but I'm pretty sure with the right nod you will be able to use it

Edit: i missed info when i read it.

What i would do is(if you're willing to go all out); Break off the bracket(nicely so that it can be put together) from the Cooler, Measure it; Get metal or strong aluminum and weld the leng that you are short of.

or a variation of that. Since i don't understand what you will be "hammering"

I worried that I might broken the only retention bracket I have right now if I hammered it too hard frown.gif there's a place at those cooler where you have to put those retention brackets, but the 939 bracket is wider than the Volcano 12 heatsink bracket locations, so I have to hammered it
