rs240 or h50.. not sure help?

Hey guys im not sure if i should invest in getting a rs240 or a h50. I know the rs240 may produce better temps but not sure if the h50 would work decently good for the temps and core clock im trying to achieve. Right now I have an q6600 on air, running at 3.4ghz @ 1.4v. running 40 ºC idle on all cores and 50-60ºc while gaming. I want to go somewhere between 3.6a and 4ghz. Which one would allow me to do that? I can get the h50 for $40 brand new. And the rs240 for $115

What cooler do you currently have? If you have any decent cooler currently, then an H50 most likely isn't going to do any better and very well may do worse. I would go for the RS240, its always upgradable if you ever get the itch to add something else - H50, once installed is done unless you change the fans.

I would say your odds are good with an RS240, it will dump all of the heat you make so it'll be down to your chip/mobo/PSU.

H50 might run into issues, but could manage ok. Personally I would go for the Rasa kit if you can afford it.

As a side note, have you considered the H100 that's about to be released, I'm considering one for my work Q6600, I'd like to take this quite a bit higher than it is currently too. @3GHz atm, but unfortunately I have a B3 chip which OCs like crap.

I see. I have the CNPS9700

The H50 would def be easier to install and less maintenance since it's a pre built closed loop. The H50 should be able to keep you cool if you're not going past 4Ghz, I have mine at 3.9 and my max temp is about 70. However you will get much better performance from the rs240.

I see, I really want to try the rs kit but not sure if i would notice a lot of difference between the h50 and the rs kit in terms of temperature. But yea man these q6600 still pack a punch. I thought about upgrading to a i7 but honestly these q6600 will allow me to play any game I want with decently good fps. And if i can push this G0 further to 4.0 it would be beast. And idk if the H100 will be as good as these rs kits?

and also the reason why i want to upgrade to an h50 or rs kit is because with this zalaman cooler my pc always crashes a while after running prime or intel bc it gets soo hott .. but other than that its stable when i game and everything else.

You frankly will see a temp difference, and probably a large one IMO.

If you want to get into liquid cooling go for it, I only recommended the H100 if you were worried about setting it up yourself (I'm looking at it because my boss doesn't want liquid cooling in the workplace because of electrical safety ~ sigh, but he can't cmplain about a sealed unit ).

It can be great fun and if you have the inclination I think you should.
