flow order for the loop (newbie here) - Page 3

Rule one of loops is res then pump.
Rule two: Refer to rule one.
After that, it's entirely up to you. Lay your loop out how best suits your blocks and fittings. Motherboard blocks put the least heat into the water, and GPU blocks the most with CPU blocks in the middle.

Most people like to put a rad before the CPU block so as to keep CPU temps as low as possible. With CPUs every degree counts, almost everything else in the loop is way less sensitive.

While the loop temperature being constant idea is prevalent, it's also only mostly true, a loop under a constant load will reach an equilibrium state, but temps will still vary to an extent throughout the loop. Obviously water that's just come out of the rad will be cooler than water coming out of a hot block. With multiple blocks and rads, it's a little more complicated to get the most out of your loop, and that is also determined by your case.
The general idea is to make your loop as neat as possible while making sure your CPU block is in the coolest possible part of the loop, usually just after a radiator. The positioning of every other block and rad is entirely up to you and the mountings and tube routing available.

so if i go for the res>pump>rad>cpu flow can i use the gpu or the mobo next?
imma use maximus IV extreme for my mobo anyway.

for bleeding reasons.

res has the largest liquid supply which can feed the pump uninterrupted.

This is why we suggest it... its not mandatory, but its recommended.

they say flow dont matter but i found for my loop it did help me some by changing it so i have a rad befor my cpu and gpus.

placing the rad before the cpu makes sense since the coolest flows right after exiting the rad and the cpu is the one who really needs it.i might make two loops if i go 3way sli.

yeah it does make the most sense.. but is the net worth the gain?

If it means u need to messy up your tubing routing... then no.

The slightly loss in potential is nothing to cry about.



If your after performance that much, u should be dual looping and not worrying about part order, instead of trying to look at cake and eat it too.

People will go ... oh dear.. why didnt u just get an indy car to start with then?


Same thing... if ur after absolute performance... single loops is not that route, and your on the wrong starting line.

I don't think it matters where you place your reservoir. As long as it works for you that's all that matters. I have mine setup kind of like this.

its best to keep a pump b4 a res, because then the pump can draw whatever coolant is required directly from the res, and not end up sucking air, and running dry.

flow order is:

res
pump
rad
cpu

that is the genral consesus of a circuite and how it must be. res needs to be a little higher than the pump so it can keep the pump primed and lubricated all times
