+1 for the 6990, much better than the GTX590 overall.

It won't be dead in a week if you have half a brain.

I don't have a link to the asus 580x2 because quite frankly, I view it as a waste of money.

The 590 is an excellent single slot solution and there are still some issues but, they're being worked out.

You will NEVER be able to safely OC the Nvidia GTX 590 SAFELY past 1.05 so, don't buy one and then whine when you can't OC.
not worth the hassle. ill buy a 6990 and be done with it. review i just saw the 6990 beats the 590 anyway.

It's not released yet. It's two 580s on one PCB. Full VRM setup for each.

The 6990's drivers are actually 5x the nightmare that the 590 will ever be.

I rotate 2x6990s and 2x590s at work...I have dramatically less issues with the 590's even in their current state.

I agree with most of you on this... I am an Nvidia fan but still would rather pick a 6990 over a gtx 590... And for the Mars II, I would only consider if you only have one slot or are going for a monster four GPU setup which no game would take full advantage of anyways... At that point, just get two GTX 580's...

Yup, listen to this guy. He has problems with AMD drivers, so everyone else on the planet does to. The people in the 6990 club are liars.

He has NO problems with nVidia drivers, so you won't either. In fact, nVidia are the first people in history to make problem free software.

The 590 is fine if you can be reasonable with the clocks. For the same money(or a little more) you can get the 6990, 2x570's or 2x580s and not have to worry about that. You'll most likely be happier with those choices as you won't have to worry about killing your card quite so easily.

When someone posts, they typically from post from personal experience.

My office has 6 590s, 12 6990's and 12 580's...Not including my own.

Now, throughout my office, I find that the 6990's actually have the most issues due to their drivers + Crossfire issues.

The 590's while they do have issues (I've said this 3x) don't actually BSOD and fail when a 3rd monitor is added or, go through an extreme state of tessilation or...Should I continue?

2x580's work well, as well but, the room to overclock is obviously a bit higher.

If you're looking for a single slot solution, IMHO, from my PERSONAL experience running these cards since release and dealing with Alienware customers about their PC's, I'd suggest the Nvidia 590's or the 580's.

P.S. All my drivers are custom...At least with Nvidia's, I can fix my own problems.

This ^^

And from my personal experience, no issue with AMD crossfire and or drivers. And this is my first time going to AMD.

I've never seen any of the problems you've ascribed to the 6990 & by inference other AMD cards. At my office, which is a product of my screen-printing/publishing operation, was furbished by a dozen AMD crossfire-based computers of this generation & the preceding one. I put them together, to point. Half of these configurations are running some variation of Eyefinity. It's quite a benefit for graphic design.

I've never seen a BSOD from addition of a third monitor. Never. I don't understand what the "extreme tessellation" (spelling discluded) means? You mean a BSOD results from extreme tessellation settings? Nothing like a broad, sweeping allegation to undermine. It is, though, absolute nonsense.
