Deionized water in a loop?

Thread Starter
Would using Deionized water in a loop be better or worse than distiller water? I did a google search and got very mixed results so I'm curious what ocn has to say. Thanks.

In theory worse, as de-ioninzed is usually less pure than distilled or Reverse Osmosis+De-Ionized, but the reality is that if you've got opaque tubing, it'll help keep algae growth down, silver kill coil or pt nuke will keep bacteria growth down, and your loop will relatively quickly pick up metal ions from the surroundings inside the loop and not be pure any more anyway.

Distilled is purer water as far as I know. Pretty sure deionized water is just water without the minerals so algae is more likely to grow in the water while distilled is boiled so the bacteria and stuff is at a very low rate.
