Can you recommend me an inexpensive mobo for OC'ing a 2500K?

Thread Starter
I apologize if this is all too common of a question here. redface.gif
I searched this forums and couldn't find a recent thread specifically asking my question.

I'm looking to overclock a 2500K and need recommendation of an inexpensive motherboard that'll give me decent (not great, just decent) OC'ing potential. I don't need any mobo bells and whistles like SLI or Crossfire, etc.

Thanks for any help. smile.gif

There are tons of threads making recommendations on this topic, but anyways...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131705&cm_re=1155-_-13-131-705-_-Product is the board I'll usually recommend as a rock solid overclocker at a reasonable price. I had a 2600k to 4.7GHz in a matter of seconds on it without any effort. There are some cheaper boards, but you won't be sad you sprung for an ASUS over a lesser board.

That's pretty much as cheap as it gets for 2500k overclocking atm, unless you find an open box or refurb~ but with overclocking I wouldn't touch anything that wasn't factory sealed.

Thanks. There are a significant number of 1 star reviews for that board. confused.gif

Honestly~ there's only a few boards I'd recommend here. You can see it on almost everybody's sig. Boards like the Asus P8P67 are popular for a reason, and at 180 bucks well within the midrange.

If you can't afford it, I'd wait for the price to drop~ because anything less may come with sacrifices or penalties that will cost you more in the end. (Look at the 1star reviews for that board, then look at the MASSIVE 5 Star reviews for Asrock's Extreme4 for only 30 bucks more as a perfect example)

Thanks. I can wait. Just seeing what my options are now that memory prices have cratered.

This is a good option as well. I have the board, haven't overclocked yet, but have seen plenty who have.
