Google it and find it yourself! And while you're at it, find me the press release saying IB would ship in Q1 2012.

Sorry, but making an outrageous claim like that without providing any kind of credible source is just ridiculous.

My point is, press release or no press release, AMD was hyping up Bulldozer by claiming it would be released April 2011. There never was a press release as far as I know, but nonetheless, AMD made the claim. Acting blind to the facts is what's ridiculous.

Again, no source. Good try, though. But not really.

Yeah, why is this thread so civilized with this announcement but yet any thread with BD goes crazy? Something is not right here.
1. SB can pretty much do anything at this point without issue, there's a lot less riding on IB than BD

2. People haven't been waiting for IB for years on end

3. The delay doesn't appear to be due to performance issues as was the rumor with BD, but rather marketing reasons - people hear performance issues and go wild

4. I think people have a lot more trust in Intel at the moment - AMD is keeping everything under wraps and that does not sit well with the enthusiast community

It's pretty easy to see why people are less concerned/less worked up over this news. I know your mind probably instantly goes to "OMG Intel fanboys", but the differences are clear.

I think that if companies can't come through on their promises - with Bulldozer and Ivy Bridge both in the vapour category - perhaps they need to bring in legislation so that consumers aren't ripped off by fake promises.

Bulldozer has been hyped beyond belief, but we all know that their will never be a real Bulldozer, just the half baked FX stuff that really, is so lame that even Intel haters like me would consider Intel. But then - Sandy Bridge is in the same boat, instead of an actual improved device, like i9 or i11 - it's just lame old i7.

From everything I have seen in the rumour territory lately, Ivy Bridge isn't going to be "better" than Sandy Bridge - SB is positioned to be the king of the hill, while IB is designed to cover the territory between the rag-tag econo-processors, like obsolete relics like Atom, the Celery Sticks and the endless waste of SO2 represented by the myriad of obsolete Pentium products Intel still shovels out - and that of real performance with SB, but entirely overlapping the existing i5 lineup.

All I can say that no matter what - all of these (Atom included) is superior to Itanium...

Go ahead and keep waiting for BD. Honestly, I really wanted AMD to come out and smack Intel around with BD. But so far it appears they have choked. I can talk in white text too!!!

1. SB can pretty much do anything at this point without issue, there's a lot less riding on IB than BD Again, you have no proof what BD can do, only RUMORS.

2. People haven't been waiting for IB for years on end Huh? IB is a step forward for Intel, and it takes YEARS to develop this tech.

3. The delay doesn't appear to be due to performance issues as was the rumor with BD, but rather marketing reasons - people hear performance issues and go wild Once again, you offer no proof that BD was delayed for technical/performance reasons.

4. I think people have a lot more trust in Intel at the moment - AMD is keeping everything under wraps and that does not sit well with the enthusiast community Why does AMD have to play like Intel or others? Maybe it is their choice to do so and blaming them for it is just a personal point of view.

It's pretty easy to see why people are less concerned/less worked up over this news. I know your mind probably instantly goes to "OMG Intel fanboys", but the differences are clear. No I think there are allot of AMD and Intel peeps out there that desire to see what BD brings to the marketplace. There are some here that only like to start flame wars and sit back and watch. There are and will be many different reasons why something will/is delayed, that is the name of the game.
There, answered for ya.

Good point. At this point Intel has the mid to high end price performance market to itself. Unless you are doing 3d rendering or major photo editing SB is pretty much overkill. Hopefully, Bulldozer will compare favorably.

When they finally release Ivy Bridge some of us will have been waiting for about 1.25 years.

IMO the delay is due to the P/H67 chipset issue. They don't want to screw their clients (OEMS) by shortening the life cycle of Sandy Bridge. Intel must feel pretty confident that SB will perform pretty similar to Bulldozer.

With the newer revision ES Bulldozer chips leaking out hopefully we will get some realistic performance numbers. Some of the earlier ES Bulldozer chips have been pretty disappointing, but it sounds like AMD has made some sizable changes in the later revisions.
