RO isnt really dead. I mean it isnt as strong as it should be, but there are quite a few servers that are alive and well and at least a few hundred players daily.

How so? Does it matter?

The Red Orchestra franchise has been known for being ridiculously hardcore. While we are changing somethings in RO 2 to make it easier for new players to get into and bring them over from other games, at its core it is still Red Orchestra. I strongly suggest you try playing it.

We are coming to the table with a realistic shooter featuring weapons that will kill you when shot. Not weapons where you have to fill up enemies with multiple magazines of ammunition and then chainsaw/stab them like other games designed to be more playable on console.

Fatal shots (to more than just the head) or any wound that would realistically take a soldier out of combat is a kill in Red Orchestra. There is also no magical health regeneration. Something new we are adding in the next title to the franchise is the ability for minor wounds to cause a player to bleed, and for the player to have a chance to bandage that wound before it becomes to great and causes him to bleed to death.

Yes we are introducing a cover system in RO 2, but that is because soldiers use cover. It won't save you from bullets in many cases. Cover does not make one invulnerable to bullets, it mostly conceals soldiers and allows them to create a stable firing platform. Heavy rifle rounds, especially those shot by machine guns will punch right through it. Cover is there for those who want to tactically make use of it.

Other things we bring to the table include simulation level tanks with fully realized interiors with animating crew members as they do their job.

Along with 64 player servers, modding tools from day 1 (actually day 0 as we have already released them to select individuals), and dedicated server files that anybody can download and run.

Speaking of options (something we are still working on as we finish up the game), we support almost every conceivable PC option so users can tweak the game and fine tune their settings.

I'm afraid I fail to see how we've failed the pc community in any way. RO 2 is a direct response to the community requests of RO 1 players as well as efforts to make it easier for new players to stick with it. The one thing we heard most out of RO 1 was that a players would play the game and get past the first two days and love it, or not get past the first two days and hate it. So we've focused much of our effort to get players past those first two days.
Give me competitive mods and I found mai new shoota.

Make your own competitive mods. The game will already be realistic and epic as all get out if it is anywhere similar to RO.

i dont think it could get any more competitive than what it already is.

RO2 as a competitive game would ideally be a 32vs32 based game. Where large scale movement, along with protecting the tanks with infantry and other objects would be what a competitive mode for a realistic game should be.

promod on cod isnt really pro. its more noobmod.

The AI is solid. They learned their lesson with the AI in demos. They did a presentation of the game after they had made some AI changes, and it turned the game into a slaughter, the Dev couldnt demonstrate the game because he kept getting killed over and over and over. Now they put it on easy and put god mode on so they can demostrate.

I wish i knew where to find that video, its actually quite hilarious.
