Newegg is no more the egg I knew.
I don't purchase there anymore unless no one has my stuff.

Neither did the top of my CPU. Or my Silver Arrow for that matter.

Nothing a little lapping didn't solve.

It's at $35 on Amazon, I'm actually getting one for my build (due to ease and ram restrictions obv). Thought it was overpriced, but they go out of stock a LOT on Amazon.

I have seen those go for 20 dollars BNIB with no rebate.
This is common in Canada actually, NCIX regularly has it at $20

Luckily you can still get a 212+ for $30 on Buy.com.... but this action from Newegg is likely going to make me stop recommending the 212+ altogether. The 3 heatpipes of the Xigmatek GAIA (due to positioning) outperform the 4 of the 212+ anyway.

This is another area the Mugen 2 is great in. Its base is very very flat at stock. I have never seen someone who needed to lap theirs because of non flat bases.. but I've seen tons of people who needed to lap their 212 because it was horribly curved.

Supply/demand....

Why are so many people calling newegg evil for doing this? It is simple economics....
