Southbridge help when OC'd

I've been trying to sort this for a while to no avail. Perhaps y'all have some input:
I'm overclocking my system using the ref. clock, and I've got it to run stable at decent speeds, up to 290 MHz, except for one thing: my southbridge. I've kept the HT speeds near stock for my Opti (2200 MHz), only running up the NB. When I start a prime95 (mprime actually, for linux) torture test, within 30 seconds I lose any PCI devices or USB devices plugged into the back panel. Oddly, USB stuff connected to the headers on the board still go, and the drive still reads and writes just fine.

I've upped the voltage to the sb as high as I can (incrementally of course), I've turned the SB speed up and down, nothing changes. it seems to happen at anything past a 240 MHz ref clock. Link bandwidth is set to 16 bit.

I've replaced all the TIM on the board with AS5, added heatsinks to the VRM's.

Am I missing some piece of the puzzle? Is there too much disparity in NB/SB speeds?

What is the PCI-E clock speed you have set? Is it locked to 100-102Mhz or not?

yep, locked at 100

last night I did some playing around with the HT bandwidth set to auto, and it delayed the USB shutdown, but didn't eliminate it.
As soon as I shut down the stress test, the usb's come back near immediately.
