Free mmo

Hi, I was wondering what your opinions are on this most likely beat to hell topic.
I am looking for a good mmorpg that I can play. I am looking for a game that I don't have to invest an immense amount of time in to find enjoyable. I would also like to know a game that I could really just be glying solo, but obviously meet and chat with people for a brief time and then be on my way.
Thanks in advance.

Guild Wars, definitely.

You have to pay like £9.99 for the game itself, and there's a cost for the expansions (which are stand alone campaigns) but everything else is free. No subscriptions. You can normally find a deal for all of it combined for the price of a game.

It's definitely worth it if you can afford that.

If not then try Global Agenda, Age of Conan, Dungeons and Dragons Online, All Points Bulletin, or Vindictus.

I would wait until Dragon's Nest or Tera come out to start investing any time at all into an MMO. They will both be free, and they are both brawler types of games too, so you won't get as bored as quickly.

APB Reloaded is also pretty decent if you like Grand Theft Auto.

Guild Wars.

Lord Of The Rings Online if you don't mind needing a team for stuff - team maneuvers are really awesome.

D&D Online is free now, I believe.

Many free to play are only free if you make the choice not to spend any money, since many offer mounts, storage, etc. For a cost.

That being said there are a bunch out there. One is LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online). I enjoyed it and did most stuff solo, but was also easy to pick up a group if I wanted/needed.

Edit: Age of Conan will be going F2P soon also. It has great graphics and pretty fun. You will want a fairly decent system to run the graphics at full.

The fun with MMO's is who you play with I've found, that's where you have fun or you don't at all.

I loved wow because I found lots of fun people to learn from and play with.

If you have friends that play a particular mmo, saddle up with that game.

Or if your not sure, ask your buddies you may play other games with if they know ppl who know ppl, etc.. Its a great way to get introduced into a guild with some cred and get help learning the ropes.

Soloing in any mmo gets boring, doesn't matter how good the other stuff is, but raiding and questing with some fun peeps is ridiculous fun.

Hmm, It sounds like Lotro is a pretty popular choice, I tried it once before and I didnt make it out of the starting area for the elves before I said screw it. I think it might be worth it to try it again because I did think the game had some nice visuals as it was very easy on the eyes. I also liked the lord of the rings movies so it may seem like a nice extension of the world I already know somewhat.

Oh, and I know most free mmos have a some sort of fees for a fullier experience.

As previously mentioned a few times Guild Wars is great. OCN has a guild now that we've been trying to promote while we get ready for GW 2. I personally don't like starting new characters but a lot of people do. There is an incredible amount of quests and things that you can do aside from the primary quest line. PVP is solid and brings a completely new aspect to the game. It is not really a grinding type mmorpg because the level cap is only 20 which is easy to get to. For those who do like more of the grinding style there are titles and many of them. They range from capturing elite skills, reaching every point on the map, getting rep points, and even stuff like eating sweets. Arena Net is also constantly adding more things to keep the game interesting. The Zaishen missions were added and there is still a full economy and trade center if you like power trading and making some money.

Champions is free to play if you like the super hero theme. It's definitely a casual-friendly MMO. You level up pretty fast, you can venture around on your own, and it's really easy to meet up with people to play with in the main towns.

My only concern with playing guild wars is that gw2 is coming out and how man people will play the original when that comes out.
