FEAR 3 stuttering? - Page 9

Erm, yeah. That facebook page you linked to isn't the main FEAR facebook page. And they way they respond to stuff on there doesn't sound like how a company would... I don't buy that.

Here's what looks to be a more official fear page: http://www.facebook.com/whatisfear

I mean, *** kind of dev or studio responds like this:

Quote:
‎@koen de bie offcourse we tested it and found that roblem . We tried to fix it but no luck so we needed to launch the game later but this isn't what xbox 360 , ps3 and pc fanboys wanted. So we had to take that risk
And yes, I have read demize99's tweets of Battlefield 3. Ok, so he responds like a troll but that doesn't count. He's the only one I've seen.

Anyway, I have no idea if I'm right or not, just saying...

Ok did the first level max out 4AA. Also tried FXAA. The game was extremely smooth! Then all of a sudden i had really bad Micro Stuttering and i still have it.

No AA has helped. In some areas i get no stuttering at all, whilst in others, i get very bad stuttering. Plus i have seen fps in the 40's. Need a hotfix or caps AMD. Or the devs need to fix their broken game.

No stutterring here, F3AR runs smooth as glass, then again, look what I have for GPU.
Well I guess that it's mainly an Nvidia problem? Dev1_Coder posted in a few of the problem threads, in particular the stuttering one: http://www.fearfans.com/forum/showth...t=17293&page=7

The unfortunate truth is that this bug slipped in near the end of development and only affects a small percentage of PCs. Out of a couple hundred test configurations, we only have one that exhibits this problem with any level of consistency. I know it's little consolation if you're one of the people experiencing it, but it is the difference between 200 configurations in a QA lab and tens of thousands of end-user machines the day you ship. Even so, we're kicking ourselves for missing it.

For the curious, the bug is due to physics and graphics running at different frequencies and in some scenarios they can drift out of sync. This causes the player physics (and consequently the camera) to not update for every rendered frame. That is why it is only seen in strafing and not free look.

We're working hard on a patch to fix this bug and to address as many complaints and requests from the forums as we can. Everyone at Day 1 is 100% committed to supporting FEAR 3 and the PC platform. Thanks to all of you for the feedback and for your patience!

Well, if anyone cares... There may indeed be a patch on it's way soon. I received this PM from day1_coder this evening on the Fear forums:

We have a patch that we hope fixes the problem, but we'd love to get independent verification before we release it. Are you experiencing the stuttering issue and, if you are, would be willing to test a beta executable for us? If you send me your contact email I'll forward it to the dev at Day 1 who is putting together the beta. He'll contact you directly so you don't have to trust that I'm legit.
I questioned the legitimacy of his posts as he's not a mod or anything on the forums, but he seems to be genuine with the info he has posted so far. I'll wait to see what kind of e-mail I receive though before I go completely believing it.

Fingers crossed!
