he company claims a roughly 50-percent boost in performance from Trinity over Llano, thanks to updated CPU and GPU cores that make up the APU. Trinity will upgrade to the forthcoming Bulldozer CPU processor that will power performance desktops. It will also make use of the Radeon HD 6000 family of GPUs, a.k.a. Northern Islands, which are used in the latest AMD graphics cards. Llano, on the other hand, currently uses the previous generation Radeon HD 5000 architecture.

Not only that but if Windows 8 does use some sort of GPU offloading, that graphics core built into the chip won't go to waste when you add in some crossfire'd 7970s

I can hope anyway...

If I had to guess, I would assume either FM1 or AMD being forced to release a new socket. AM3/AM3+ was designed for CPU only and I just can't see it being compatible with a GPU on die. FM1 might be able to handle it since it is essentially an AM3 processor + a GPU, but we'll have to wait and see.

Tangent: Anyone else find it funny that AMD's 2 current sockets are AM/FM?
