Uh, so? What does that have to do with comparing GIMP to Photoshop as a software suite? Photoshop is a billion times more competant than GIMP.

They won't admit it though. Also most people will claim how superior it is but only use it for tasks that even apps simpler than GIMP can perform with ease.

No duh. But most people don't want to sell their kidneys just to buy it.

This is fact. The majority of people use it for simple touching up here and there. They don't even use half the features it has.

Again, why even bring up the piracy bit? That was not of concern and has no relevance to teh capability of the product.

And those who usually do buy it see the price of it paid off with 1 project anyway, so again, who cares.

Because, it shows people don't want to pay the price for the application.
I'm pretty sure Adobe has gotten their money back from their investment.
GIMP is very capable while being free.

@ US $699.00. I highly doubt people will see the price paid off with 1 project.
Nice try. At that price, I'd pirate the hell out of it if I only needed it for one project.
Sure they have a free trial. But seriously? 700$?

I doubt they will see the return on their investment in one project. Maybe a few hundred.

Funny, considering in terms of features Windows is relatively equal to Linux in 2005, bar the actual GUI...Which was stolen from modern KDE anyway.

For me, Linux is great, I'm trying to figure out a few problems that I would normally be able to fix quickly in Windows but that's just experience.

I have yet to really use Linux on my main rig and try and run games on WINE but I need a new hard drive first...

I've gotten Photoshop and Office to run without a hitch on Ubuntu, it's not too difficult, actually it was identical to installing it on Windows.
