Phenom II x4 965 Temps on a HOT DAY!

Thread Starter
My cpu is reaching around 55-59C full load (cpu temp not core temp) and my motherboard/ambient temp is at 47C. The cpu is clocked at stock speeds right now but when its alot colder in the room it doesn't go above 55C @ 4.1GHZ.

My heatsink right now is the zalman 9500 and i just recently reapplied arctic silver 5. I don't believe the cpu is suppose to get that hot in stock speeds or my heatsink is just crappy.

Ambient temps make a huge difference.. However, if you dont mind staying stock clocks.. Youre fine. These chips can take a beating.

47C for motherboard/ambient, I'm guessing you mean inside the case?

That is pretty high, you need better cooling in your case.

The Zalman 9500 was a "meh" heatsink for older dual cores. It's no big surprise that it can't keep a quad core cool.

Get a better cooler, and enjoy lower temperatures. That Zalman 9500, HONESTLY isn't a whole lot better than the stock cooler that came with your CPU.

My recommendations go to:
Xigmatek GAIA - $30 shipped
Thermaltake Contac 30 - $30, $20 AR (+ shipping or pickup)
