Hey guys,

I'm having a freaky "issue" with 3Dmark 11:

I see some weird purple lights flashing in patterns on the gpu tests.
The flashes are not in "perfect patterns" (asymmetric) and they don't cover all the screen. Instead, they alternate between 3/4s or 1/2 screen and are usually round or elongated squarish things and wide bars, very transparent (not solid colors as in typical artifacts).

I see that no matter what: OCed, low or high vcore (haven't tested memory voltage changes yet), stock (even with some extra voltage), downclocked to ref. clocks, hot (around 83C top and 78C bottom at the most) or cool (single run usually takes the cards to the lower 60C level) .

They are more prominent on the second and third tests (forests and temples) and basically never show up on the first test (under the sea).

The cards perform flawlessly in anything else: furmark, gaming (Witcher 2, Metro2033), Metro2033 bench, etc, etc.

The only situation in which I see these damn purple lights is on 3dmark 11, and the test gives me normal scores regardless of the flashes (Graphics score is usually around 12600 on the Lightnings stock clocks).

Drivers are the latest WQHL, 280.26 - and 3dmark installation is the free one and its on the latest patch (1.02?).

Any ideas?!

P.S.: I read somewhere on the web that it could be due to a poorly seated SLI bridge but they continue after removing and reinstalling the bridge and even testing with different SLI bridges (tested the original from MSI, plus two from ASUS).

Wow ok 3 things:

1.)There has been a mass of driver complaints about 280.
especially from SLI users.
I recommend to switch to 266. or 275. for now.
It will lower 3DMark 11 scores a little bur could help negating a casualty factor.

2.)Considering SLI, I have only once read something about the bridges actually causing problems, I am sure you have heard about using two bridges for stability reasons.
Hasn't really been proven but it's worth a try

3.) Lastly the problem could be 3DMark itself.
Download the latest, bug fixed version from the OP and check for any improvements.

Ok let's try that and post back what happened

Hey guys! I got my new Asus GTX580 DirectCU II yesterday and decided to start overclocking today... So far I have a stable OC at 875/1200 1.1v and I was wondering what temps have you guys gotten around that level? I mean I did try 1.15 and I was hitting 90C in furmark which is already too much for my liking :/ Weird thing is I only hit around 60-70C in games/3dmark 11/Heaven.

The 90C in furmark are a result of the card being exhausted to 100%.
In games especially with a 580 that is mostly not the case which is why the temps are lower

Generally I recommend you to stop using furmark, for one because its supposed stability testing force of expression is actually pretty inaccurate and secondly this kind of stress testing over a longer and continues period of time can actually be harmful to your card.

I would like to refer you to the first page of our thread...in the 2nd post you can see the club's O.C section there you can compare and overview the temps of our members

Yes you can
Check the OP and download the benchmarks listed.
If you then would like to enter just post in the correct format and you're done
Actually you can take a little read in the OP anyway.
For any further help just ask

Allright, if you dont mind me asking nooby questions Should I bump up AA, AF or tesselation to maximum in the heaven benchmark to test stability better or are the default setting just fine for it?

I personally max everything to stress the card the most.
