sorry for my bad english... but i have learned it playing videogames lol
i live in southamerica... Paraguay heart of SA between Brazil and Argentina if u dont know where it is xD

well i have a PNY GTX 580 Core: 772 Mhz Shaders: 1544 Mhz Memory: 1002 Mhz

i have OCed it to 900 - 1800 - 1088 with 1.1 V on stock cooler...
(planing to get some new cooling solution would like if u guys can help me with that)

the screenshot is attached

Welcome, engage! smile.gif

Looks like you've still got OC room on the GTX 580 (once you get better cooling). Also, up the memory speed and you should see an improvement in your scores.

Core clock makes a lot more difference in scores than memory clocks do in 3DMark11.

At a core of 950MHz and memory at 2200MHz I was getting 200 points less than being at core 970Mhz and memory at 2050MHz.

Maybe I am the only one here, but when I install or upgrading Nvidia drivers I sometimes returns to low results in 3dmark 11. I can easily identify when its right or wrong just by using MSI AB graphs. I took screenshots of the GPU usage after running 3dmark 11, when it was wrong and another when I got it to work. Others of you, who get low results (less than P8500 with OC), should try to check out the same.

Driver 285.38
CPU: 4.8GHz, 48x100
MEM: 2133 (8-10-8-24 1T)
GPU: 1000 MHz
GPU MEM: 2050 MHz

The difference between the right and wrong is about P200 points.

Something is wrong: ~ P83xx
problem.png

Now its right: ~ P85xx
problem-solved.png

But why??? for me it recover when I completely remove the driver, and install it on my primary GFX bios. After that I just reboot my computer and shift to secondary bios and let it install again. First then I get the GPU to work 100% all through the test as in the second screenshot.

What can be wrong, and do other here experience the same?

I haven't really tested out the differences with my 580 or 3d11, but I usually see improvements with higher memory clocks on other benches. Maybe not as drastic as core, but still improvements. In heaven I see big increases with memory clocks. Maybe give it a try and see if it helps the score. I would think that it can easily do another 100-200 mhz.

I see a good bit of difference in Crysis Warhead using memory overclocks too (GPU memory).

850 core, 1000 memory = 52 FPS average or so
850 core, 1100 memory = 55 FPS average or so

It may not be much, but its there. I'm leaving my memory at stock anymore though, due to the lack of cooling.

yes. The only drivers I have been using on this windows installation are the 285.38 and the 285.27.

First I had the problem with the 285.27, solved after I found out the reason. A couple of weeks later when the battlefield 3 driver came, I upgraded and the same problem came up again. I solved it again and now its running perfect again.

Yeap, this is on 3DMark11 and it's a hard-lock / black screen initially. If I let it sit there for about 1 min to see what happens, it brings a blinking cursor to the screen. At this point I need to hard-reset the system - when I go back to Windows, it provides the BSOD code (if I don't wait for the blinking cursor I get no BSOD code).

The CPU guys were talking about this error being related to Northbridge and PCH is for Southbridge (AFAIK), so did not try raising this, good point and I'll give this a go. Other than that, the Z68 doesn't have VCCSA as that's tied with VCCIO, I've tried raising this and when I went back to stock setting the auto value for PLL was back up at 1.8v (there is no IOH/ICH specifically).

Thanks, if PCH raising doesn't help I'll try the official AB version and older drivers to see what it complains about.

I haven't tried single cards because I'm only chasing SLI score. Once I reach a point where the driver falls over because of lack of volts, I'm happy (both cards are modded to 1.2v).

This.. for what it's worth, I'm seeing approx. 100 Graphic point raise when raising core by 5, and only around 30 Graphic point raise when raising memory by 100. Raising memory doesn't do anything for Physx / Combined score either while Core does impact it (so the overall P score is impacted even more). This is nothing scientific of course so YMMV.
