[Official] GTX 580 Overclocking Club - Page 213

Hi I would just like to ask a question in regards to my OCed Lightning:

did a little more tweaking for my GTX 580 Lightning today and these are the results:

Settings: MSI Afterburner
- 1150mV
- 920 / 1840 / 2200
- 38C Idle / 68C Load (Air Cooled with 200mm fan blowing directly on GPU)
- Fans are on Auto settings, with the highest recorded during test is 65%

I usually do gaming almost everyday with at least 6-10 hours straight without turning off the computer. I would just like to know if my configurations for the voltage are currently safe for that kind of purpose?

Also, are these OC setting within the average OC range among those who own the 580 GTX?

Thanks in advance!

Temps look good to me, hence I'll say it's safe. I suspect you can lower the voltage further though. My stock EVGA GTX 580 can do 980MHz core at 1.15v.

I agree I would think you could get the clock a fair amount higher at that voltage. I'd work the clock up or the voltage down.

Hmm I have actually tried dropping the voltage and increasing the clocks by a notch but that usually results in artifacting during the run-through in heaven. By far this is the most stable setting i have done as this one survived 3 full-run through without a single flaw appearing >.< .

But yeah, its pretty interesting to note that the core volts are on the high side compared to other's at this clock settings. Guess I got a bad egg this time.

Oh well then, 920 is plenty I'm sure.

Yup pretty much satisfied with my current configurations..'m just a little concerned about the 1.15V that I am using though, hopefully it is still within the "safe ceiling" of the card for it to last at least 2-3 years.

But I definitely don't leave my computer on 24/7 but just using it quite a lot (6-9 hours / session before i turn it off to go outside/sleep etc). Given MSI's redesigned PCB board for the 580..do you think it is safe for me to say that my card will last around that timeframe? (2-3 years and beyond) at this current configuration?

I think your card is fine like you said it has beefed up pcb/voltage control. But thats just my opinion don't take that as fact.

just started working on my overclock for my gtx 580. Using OCCT on the default settings, i got 3 errors in the thirty minutes i tested it. is that bad or alright with these settings? cV 1050 and core clock 875

temps didn't go over 68c

all of this is in preparation of bf3, gotta gobble up all the extra frames i can.

Most people won't recommend OCCT for these cards, they wil throttle with apps like that. Most use heaven, 3dmark, crysis bench, stuff like that. And watch for artifacts.

This. I find Unigine Heaven to be sufficient. Watch for artifacts (green lines or flickering).
