thanks buddy im looking forward to finally doing some benching;) my first goal is 5ghz on water, then on to 5.3-5.5;) after I get a hang of it ill pull out the phase:)

You're going to need around 1.58-1.6v to get bench-stable at 5Ghz, depending on your chip. I'd go straight to phase; the 980X puts out quite a bit more heat than SB. smile.gif

Overclocking's a lot more fun with the 980X though. Oh, and don't forget to increase IOH core voltage (I needed 1.24v) once you go SLI; it'll save you a ton of crashes (i.e. BCCode 116s). cool.gif I learned it the hard way (uninstalling and reinstalling drivers so many times I was about to toss my GPUs out the window). redface.gif

Can I borrow your 2600K? wink.gif

I'm really considering getting the 2 ASUS Matrix and putting them underwater and aim for 1Ghz. I chose this one because it's close to the same price as the EVGA reference card but from my understanding has better build quality and more power phases?

Would that be the best choice for me?

EK's cooling config says there is no block for that card. I would recommend getting the best deal on a reference card that you can if going under water. The vrms are fine on the 580's. Especially under water. But some of those other cards will allow you tp pump extra voltage.

Evga limits at 1.15v, you need to flash to allow more. The asus 460 I had allowed me to crank up the voltage way more then my msi. Not sure if this is the case with the 580's. EK does make a block for the DCII 580 if you really want to get something other then reference.

sorry I meant to say the DCII.. I was thinking I could also get the 2slot bracket then it won't be so cumbersome. But if it's not going to preform any better I rather just stick with the EVGA reference card.

I have the EVGA being sent to a local store and it should be here tomorrow. I'm just trying to make sure I'm not making a mistake lol.

From some of the results here, it seems that the MSI Lightning (see Khalam's results for instance) and Gigabyte (see qwwwizx's results) cards OC the best. Unfortunately, there are no retail full waterblocks for them.

You'll be happy with the EVGA reference though; won't break any records but it does well under water. I know; I have one. smile.gif

I think part of that is they allow more voltage. I'm pretty sure the evga cards could hit those clocks but the majority of users don't flash their cards with edited bios's.
