[Official] GTX 580 Overclocking Club - Page 230

Just got around in overclocking my EVGA 580 SC. Stock VID (according to Afterburner) is around 1.088v. I was able to hit 850/1700/21500 on stock volts without any problems - ran about 3 loops of 3DMark11 and 1 1/2 hours of BF3 multi-player. Temps toppled at around 70c with Afterburner's "fan curve profile". So I've been reading through some of the older pages, and it seems a majority of you guys are able to hit 850MHz with a mere 1.05v (or less). Do you think it would be feasible lowering my voltage from 1.088v down to that?

Thanks. I lowered the voltage from 1.088v down to 1.075v and it shaved off about 3 degrees. I the tried lowering it further down to 1.05v but programs started locking up. Will have to do some further stability testing tomorrow.

Hi guys, I was wondering why for me the Core Voltage on Afterburner is +200. I don't really understand what this means and I'd much rather it show the actual voltage. Any idea how I can have it show the actual voltage? I'm running 2.2.0.

Sweet. Now bump the clocks up biggrin.gif Or are you just trying to get your best clock with stock volts?

Currently running one of the cards @ 850/1700/2004 1050mV and reaching as high as 79-80ºC.

Would you call that a safe voltage AND temperature for 24/7 Folding?

Base voltage is 1.013V, +200 is 200mV so that is 1.213V (probably too much)

I'd really suggest AB 2.1 for more stbaility, 2.2 still has issues for me anyway. Anyway, You need to configure AB properly. Two things to do: Click settings, in the first tab make sure Enable voltage monitoring is checked. There is another tab that allows you to select what appears in your "monitoring" window which appears to the right of all of your sliders and what not. Make sure voltage is selected in that checklist. +rep if helped smile.gif

Yeah, you're fine. Voltage is okay (base is 1.013) and those temps aren't at all unusual for the 580. You can probably shave the temps a bit if you wish with manual fan, but its not necessary

Thanks, I'd love to boost the fan a bit more but it is already at 75-80% and the computer is about 2 meters away from my bed, anything higher prevents me from sleeping properly. kungfu.gif

I'll stick to this OC for now. tongue.gif

Although I am seriously considering buying an Accelero Xtreme Plus II for the bottom GTX580 so I can push it harder for Folding@Home, even for both cards. devil.gif

80C - 95%
90C - 100%

That's my winter settings I just set. In summer I set it 5% higher on all those specs. By the time your about 70C you want to be aggressive if nothing else is higher.

On Crysis, Crysis2, Battlfield 3, I'm never past 74C and I have the same exact card as you and stock 1.0880v. My 24/7 OC is @875 core 13% over vanilla reference clocks.

Following your advice I took the time to set up a custom fan profile today. My load temps dropped to 74'C on Heaven and the fan speed gets up to 75% (only 2% more than the 73% my fan hit at 88-89'C on the Auto profile). I guess the auto profile really does suck!

I made it much milder since I can hear my 580 fan over my case fans at 49%. Set 45% at 45'C and my idle temps dropped 8'C too.

I also tried 850/1700/2100MHz @ 1.0250v to test temps/fan speed. Load was as little as 63'C and the fan speed hit only around 65%. Now I'm debating whether the extra 75MHz is worth the 10% increase in fan speed (it's very loud to me at 75%, but still not above my game audio).
