Why the difference?

But the hugh difference is only in mark vantage.

i forgot to put it on performance when i got the 6290. and ive had the same things running in the background every time i run benchmarks.
Im guessing he had different settings. i usually run it with the performance defaults...
im going to try updating my drivers and see if that changes anything...

for one, his core clock is higher.

also for vantage, im pretty sure the main score is a combo of cpu and gpu, and his cpu killed yours. if you look at the gpu scores it can be explained by the core clock difference.

Your 3DMark11 score is the absolute one.

We only conducted the 4 graphical tests ergo our score is the GPU only score

Pioneer has got a pretty good 3DMark11 score for 900MHZ though o.O
That is probably explained by his 25K CPU at 4.7GHZ.

@slain: In Vantage the CPU does not have that much force of expression ..the only thing that matter is for the card not being bottlenecked by the CPU.

I don´t think why you think my Vantage score is high.
My CPU is at 4.1GHZ ...I have said before that I currently can´t get higher than this because I am on Intel stock heatsink.

But when my watercooling arrives I will be back on 4.7GHZ i7950 again and then the Vantage GPU score should be better.
Right now I am on 31.550 or something which isn´t that impressive considering 1GHZ clock^^

Also my 3DMark11 score isn´t really anything if you look at pioneer´s score of 7.183 with 900MHZ core against my 7.600 score with 1GHZ^^

But I think that in 3DMark11 100points difference measures different from Vantage.
That is my problem I am too used to Vantage so I cannot distinct the differences.

Still all our scores are normal ...but mine personally could be better considering I am on 1GHZ and you are all not but still keeping up to my scores

I will check out more HWbot scores and compare our results with them

I re-run the test in vantage with Turbo disabled and the GPU goes down to 22000. So 5Ghz can make the diff after all.

I already explained

Your GPU s core is going down because the Turbo isn´t boosting your CPU overclock anymore and the card is bottlenecked.

But just as a sidenote ...you shouldn´t use Turbo anyway..it is a stability hazard.
Turn it off and overclock the 50MHZ it applies yourself

Still up until a certain point the GPU cannot be bottlenecked anymore.

With i7´s that is mostly around 4.5GHZ.

But don´t worry ...if you look at the reviews and other people´s results etc you will see that the results in this thread overcome them all

We are all scoring much higher than the testers, reviewers and even some HWbot members lol^^

He also scores low with 960core clock

Vantage is different from 3DMark11 though.
It is far less sophisticated and specified.

100 points in Vantage mean nothing.
But in 3DMark11 100 points can be considered equal to 600-800 points in Vantage so don´t be mad

So Vantage shouldn't be taken under consideration, Given the OC of the CPU for each user the results will always be different. We should limit outself to mark11 and Heaven unigine. To measure only the GPU perfomance.
I'm at 4.6, so i doubt the gpu is bottlenecked. And the only way i know to oc the CPU is raising the turbo multipliers.

Vantage may not be as new and specialized as 3DMark11.

But it still is a very good indicator and measurement for raw GPU performance.

Look, we are talking about synthetic benchmarks.
At a certain point of CPU clock it will not interfere with the GPU anymore because it does not bottleneck it.

That has nothing to do with Vantage since the same thing could happen in 3DMark11 as well.

Also if you compare the Vantage results of all users and then the 3DMark11 results at the same time you will see a clear line up and border each user is either upon or below.

Take me for example:

Here is my Vantage score

And here the 3DMark11 score

Both were conducted with 1GHZ /2500@1.87V

Now compare to the others.

Most of the 940-980 core clocks score almost the same scores.
29K - 30K in Vantage
and 6K-7K in 3DMark11.

Only the ones with 980X or 26K/25K CPU´s at 4.6-5GHZ score considerably higher in comparison and relation to their GPU overclock.

Since the facotr of bottlenecking is negated there must be somethingelse boosting their score

Topdog for example almost scored as high as me in Vantage with smaller core clock.

Edit:I just noticed something on my Afterburner.
Check out the screens I have posted and look at Afterburner where GTX 580 Lightning stands.
Aside that (CBB fixed) is stated.
What does that mean?

3dmark11 P8138.

[Qwwwizx] [GTX 580SO] [993MHz/2306MHz@1.13v] [H2O]

Temps went up to 32c-50c on GPU and 40c-83c on CPU. The ambient is around 28c.

Link to picture

Just watercooled the gfx with an generic EK VGA block, so I still have some heatsinks to place before going higher. My record on air with the stock gigabyte soc cooler is a bit higher.

Your screenshot does not display the distinct GPU score please repost a screenshot and follow the instructions given in the OP which explain what is necessary in order to be added to the Hall of Fame.

You only need a 3DMark11 and Vantage score ...both perfectly visible with each distinct GPU scores, absolute scores are redundant since they can not be compared to others.

In that screenshot there should also be your overclocking tool ..that one you got

And lastly
