Card is damn cold as well. 30 at idle, and ONLY 53 during Furmark.
On a side note, when I'm stability testing, will the point of my OC failing be obvious, really noticeable artifacts, etc.

what are your ambient temps? cause 53 in furmark is better than what i get on water

Somewhere in the vicinity of 19C, or 67F.

Just upped the core a bit to 936, 1.1v still. 50% fan, holding at 56C.

Edit: Does it matter what settings I'm using for Furmark? I'm running at 1920x1200, 8xMSAA, options Burn-in. Should I raise/lower resolution, any options? I mean I'm getting crap FPS, but it's all about stress testing, right?

Don't use furmark with these cards they will throttle.

I would use crysis bench, loops of that are great, heaven benchmark. BF3 is a great gauge. Also 3dmark11.

But yes you should see artifacts and you may also get driver crashes. The best test is normally prolonged gaming though.

Not that I have much merit to ride on, but I've found that more-or-less you can test once w/ 3dmark11 (as previously mentioned) and if you make it through that with no artifacting and without your driver crashing, there's a good chance you'll be fine for prolonged use in games, at least from my experience. Worst comes to worst, you drop it down 10 mhz. I think I've lost interest in letting very long tests run on any of my PC components, rather testing mostly through use.

On a side note, I finally put in my replacement cards from EVGA and got around to seeing what it could do and it hit 985 core @ 1.150V. This was rather surprising as I thought the last card was stellar w/ 970 @ 1.150V (until it died, R.I.P.).

In that case, your computer must be standing somewhere with low ambient temperature. My guess will be an ambient just below 10c, am I right?

Not far off, heat is turned down to 60f at night and the pc sits against an outside wall (not on the floor). Temps outside this time of year is about -8 or so. I cant run below room temp so im thinking at or just above ambiant temps. Doesnt feel cold to me inside, must be a canadian thing...were are numb to the cold.

But yes you should see artifacts and you may also get driver crashes. The best test is normally prolonged gaming though.

You can prevent throttle by using the /gtx580 option in furmark, or alternatively you can run GPU-Z with the command line option X:gpuz.exe /GTX580OCP

Right now I'm at 1.115v, 936, 2205, holding at ~57C.

What do you think I can get the memory to? It's the MSI 580 Lightning Extreme, so 3GB.
