My cards are not right next to one another i can probaly get two finger worth of space between them. Maybe i will try to get more inlet flow and see if that helps. Right now i have negitive pressure in the case with 3 fans - 2 front bottom 1 side inlet then 2 rear out and power supply out all of these fans probaly equal out but with the 2 580 push alot of exaust im definitly negitive pressure.

Yah I'd say more intake the better. Or maybe exhaust from the side? You never know.

Quick questions to other i5 2500K CPU owners running 580 SLI or 560Ti SLI.

I'm looking into building a second rig for kids with i5 2500K CPU and will eventually run either of those cards in SLI.

Have you experienced any bottle necking with the i5 2500K in SLI?

Secondly, on a side note a bit off topic, How is your gaming performance without Hyper Threading? I don't think it matters since HT is more app based but curious.

At first I was going to switch my i7 950 with the i5 2500K combo but was advised I'd be better off keeping the i7 950 for myself. The kids are spoiled on my system and can't settle for a down grade. tongue.gif I need them off my computer time though. rolleyes.gif

You will no be bottlenecked with a 2500k on any sli setup. ISn't gaming better without hyperthreading? I don't think HT adds much for gaming.

And not sure if your aware but the 2500k beats a i7-950. You may want to reconsider biggrin.gif

Hi guys, quick question, OCCT gpu test its reliable? because i can do Unigine Heaven 2.5 and 3dmark 11 or play anything many hours without a problem @ 960/1920 @1.150v on my Lightning, no crash, artifact, flicker, etc, everything is good, but with OCCT with shader complexity 8 i got errors :/

I can't even up 10mhz @ 1.2v because still show errors lol.

So i don't know what it's going on here tongue.gif

I personally wouldn't worry about occt with these cards. I would get no errors but issues everywhere else. Your best test is a demanding game. I can bench 3dmark to like 980 but I'm only game stable at 950.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm able to bench 3dmark 11 @ 980mhz but it give me artifacts on Unigine Heaven 2.5 and i don't want to use more than 1.150v and @ 970 i get flickering in some games, @960mhz everything is fine.

It was just OCCT giving me errors at whatever setting i test, the exeption was stock clocks tongue.gif

Is 1.150 safe for 24/7 use? I mean I won't be running my PC all the time, but is running at that voltage whenever the PC is on?

Hey all,

My new lightning 580 do 960/2200 @ 1.118v or +112 its a good overclock right?

Thanks

Okay guys, opinions here.

I have a EVGA GTX 580 SC card.

I'm currently running at 1000/2000/2025 @ 1.088v. I'm using EVGA Precision and EVGA ELEET for the settings.

I've used OC Scanner, 3dMark06 and played games... all seems well. I assume these are fairly safe settings for 24/7 use

EDIT: I'm DL'n 3DMark11 now.
