I've used OC Scanner, 3dMark06 and played games... all seems well. I assume these are fairly safe settings for 24/7 use

EDIT: I'm DL'n 3DMark11 now.
Damn dude you got a beast of a reference card. Can you play BF3 maxed out with that clock?

Thanks
Yes thats a very nice OC for that voltage.

Hi Uniwarking,

Great OC, especially if you were able to complete a 3DMark bench. Your voltage at 1.0880mV is my stock voltage for my card. So your voltage is very safe for that card.

I couldn't run my highest bench @ 950/1900/2075 OC until I hit 1.1250mV. Any higher and I couldn't get through a successful 3DMark11 bench.

If your @1000Mhz Core that's truly amazing for an EVGA GTX 580 SC and stable. Those clocks are usually only achieved under water. Are you under water or is that on air?

Each cards over clock can vary and if your playing games that are demanding and haven't black screened or locked up then you hit the VRAM lottery. Congrats.

Definitely run a bench and post the results if you can.

As for safe 24/7 personally I don't go over 15% over clock for 24/7. I run mine @ 890/1780/2075 at stock voltage 1.0880mV 24/7. I had a 13% over clock since January and then recently bumped another 2% for the last month no problems.

If your under water then that OC would be fine. You need to watch your highest temps at full throttle. What is it? Personally I'd hit the concern button at 90C. Though the cards can take 95C-98C without any problems, I would start to back off any OC that brings my cards any higher than 90C especially 24/7.

At full throttle my highest temp is 74C. I idle at 40C.

1GHz at 1.0880v is legendary.

My SC also has a stock voltage of 1.0880v (I believe most if not all of them do) and I can only hit 930MHz bench-stable at that voltage. I run 920 or 925MHz 24/7.

FYI the fan profile on the reference 580s is designed by default to ramp up at the mid-high 80s. It tries to maintain whatever fan speed is necessary to keep the card under 90'C -- 89'C is the highest my card loads, and that's with a 72-74% fan speed. The GPU can tolerate up to 98'C before throttling the clocks.

Its rare to see any evga card hit 1000mhz regardless of air or water. Without flashing the bios and adding extra voltage. I'd say golden chip for sure if it is truly stable. I can bench with 3dmark11 like 30mhz higher then I can game. So I'd say gaming is the true test.

I personally think Unigine Heaven with 2 or 4x AA is far more telling than any FutureMark software. I was able to bench 970MHz@1.088v on 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark11 but I crashed out within 30 seconds of Heaven.

It's important to be thorough of course, so I use both.

All this chat is making me nervous that I've not done something right... lol.

I'm on air, I've been running 900MHz for some time but decided to up the voltage and try for 1000MHz. Low 70's max temps.

I'll do some more benching, hopefully tonight.

Do you guys think there is a large difference in the relative wear a card will take @ 75C vs 85C for maybe 2 hours a day on average? I have a custom fan profile that ramps up the reference cooler after 55C in a 1:1 ratio, so it gets pretty loud when running graphically intensive games like, most recently, Just Cause 2 and the Witcher 2. If I could sacrifice some Cs for some dBs with minimal impact on my card (lifetime warranty anyway lol), I'd go for it.

Btw running 940 @ 1.100.

You should be fine. GTX 580s are rated up to 98'C nominally, and the quality of the parts/PCB on the 580s is slightly superior to that of the 480 despite the 480 being rated almost 10'C higher. With a nominal top temp like that anything below 90% of the rated (e.g. 88-89'C) should be peachy.

I think just like you, i'm able to bench 3dmark at low voltage and high clocks or play games without a problem but with Unigine Heaven i start to have problems, Heaven does not crash for me but it gave me one of this artifact from time to time when i was testing my card, just one or two lights between 10-30 mins nothing as crazy like the artifacts in the video but the only solution to make the artifacts gone was up the voltage.

Also i wanna know if in the Lightning version it's ok to use 1.150v for gaming session, the card was made for that right? My temps don't go up to 70º and Vrm temp don't go higher than 55º, anyway i use a stock profile in afterburner to surf on the internet, etc, then i load my Oc profile for demanding games like BF3 or Crysis 2.
