That's weird because I can pass 3dmark 30mhz higher than I'm actually stable. I was all excited to pass at 980. But I'm only stable at 950. Seems to be the opposite for others.

The one that usually shows when I have a bad OC is Heaven. I always get artifacts but no crashing if I didn't give enough voltage. 3Dmark just crashes the driver for me.

I hear you but some apps just act weird for people sometimes. If everything else is perfectly fine I would move on.

Just did a little calculation today. I hope for cold weather in the weekend, cause wife and kid is visiting family and it has been some time ago I benched. Now that I look back on my old results, I found a way to calculation the 3dmark11 graphics score (not the P score):

Take the GPU frequency and multiply it by 8.13, then I hit the target and result of 3dmark11 pretty good.

It might only work like that in single GPU configurations, dual, triple and quad sli's might have slightly lower numbers.
Code:
gpu / mem  = 3dm11 g-result = factor

855 / 2050 = ~6950          = ~8.12 
1000/2400  = ~8150          = ~8.15
1052/2511  = ~8570          = ~8.15

The memory increase in my results makes the factor a bit higher on the OC benches.

Can't tell you much on the 7970 over clock though it is impressive. It also beats a 580 in perfomance. On single monitor with 15-30% gains with 1920x1200 resolution or below and widens the gap on multiple monitors when both at stock clocks.

As for the 580 on stock voltage I'm getting a 16% over clock on core / shader running at 900 / 1800 MHz very stable. Can get more with an over voltage but for a 24/7 OC prefer not. Don't need to think about it much more than that because I'm currently gaming maxed settings without any problems. Including BF3.

For 3D Vision I turn down settings one notch to get playable frame rates. No problem at all with 3D Vision blu-ray movie watching at any clock.

I scored 7389 on 3DMark 11 score at 950Mhz with 1.1250mV graphic score.

I benched like 7-10 times, from where I stopped in the summer, and I am pretty satisfied with the results. I believe I can still run it a little harder, but I was freezing like hell after a couple of hours, so I decided to stop for today. I got pics of the setup here: link


I am considering to buy a Radeon HD7970 now, if Nvidia isnt showing something worth waiting for in the near future (before the hd7970 is available in the stores).

finally got the modded bios on the 2nd 580 so now both cards can run at 1.213V - this was my result with 20C ambient temps.I feel like i could do 1000 core + if i were to set my rig up in the garage where ambient temps are about 2-6C smile.gif
