^Sounds good! Thanks for the advice!

I only have one problem the back of the pcb is almost scalding to the touch although my temps via after burner never exceed 51c....(during heaven loop)

Is this a problem? If so how do I fix it?

Been fiddling around this morning:

51c = 125f, which will feel hot to the touch....

Ah, pas probleme. :)

I guessed what you meant but I wasn't quite certain.

I am not sure what you mean when you say "tensions" in relation to a video card. Tension is the force acting on a rope when you pull on each end of the rope; there shouldn't be tension in your video card. I'm not sure what the word you're meaning to say is, but it's not tension. smile.gif

I set my clock frequencies and my core voltages with Nvidia Inspector. I read my GPU voltage using GPU-Z or Open Hardware Monitor. (Both read identical values.) I set my fan speeds via evga Precision and I monitor my fan speeds with Open HW Monitor.

If you're like me and like having as few processes/programs running as possible, especially seeing as we're folders, then MSI AB does a great job at all the things you listed. Just FYI.

Does the MSI Afterburner handle software fan speed control and multi-display power saving in one application without wasting resources on other things that I don't need, such as redundant voltage and temperature monitoring or a clunky interface?

To be honest, I've never even looked at MSI Afterburner, but I was aware of it.

EVGA precision is using 0% CPU, 00:00 CPU Time since reboot, and is using 1,536K  of memory at a Below Normal Priority and is being used for fan speed control only.

Nvidia Inspector is using 0% CPU, 00:00 CPU Time since boot, and is using 11,736K of memory at Normal Priority and is being used for multi-monitor (at disparate resolution) to force P8 and P12 states when in video playback or idle modes. (Otherwise, my 2 disparate resolution monitors force P2 state even at idle, because of the Nvidia drivers.)

My Nvidia Inspector also makes a few changes to some game profiles that the Nvidia Control Panel can't make.

My GPU core hits 76C and sometimes even 78C on a high ambient temperature day on 24/7 folding. I wouldn't even think about touching my card during or immediately after operation. Ouch!

(You shouldn't touch your card while operating at any temperature, as static can be a real pain in the rear for components.)

Yes MSI AB does have fan control and a great UI. I'm not positive about the profile forcing. It sounds like you have reasons you can't replace the other two but if you wanted to try MSI AB it could be a direct replacement for Precision, and one that most prefer to it.

You got an "OK" from the wife to spend YOUR money on something YOU enjoy????

You're a grown man and it's none of her business.

Well not of all us married folk have cart blanche leeway as a marriage is a two way street. Just like I'm sure his wife asks him before she buys a Gucci hand bag for $800 if it's ok. tongue.gif

Daniel - I along with tons of buget minded married guys are in your boat and fully understand. smile.gif I do have a secret fund I set aside money by eating less lunch at work daily. Been saving since last year right after I got the GTX 580 as a matter of fact and have $750 up to date. I'm good to go and ready myself. tongue.gif

Excellent, I will check it out. I just need to make sure that the voltage, clock speed, and fan speed changes are occurring at a software level and not a firmware level, and I'm good to go. I've only tweaked one single profile setting in Skyrim and I can live without it. (It's a forced High Quality instead of Quality on ambient occlusion, so it's not really that big of a deal at all.)
