I've just got my hands on a reference EVGA GTX 580 coming from 5850's and I'm wondering if anyone knows what's the safe voltages for this card? Also what sort of OC's do people hit with these? Cheers.

Personally I never went past 1.1000mV. It got me to 950Mhz Core Clock for bragging right on the first page through a 3DMark11 score.

I kept mine at it's default which can vary card to card and mine was at 1.0880mV. At stock voltage I had a 24/7 900Mhz Core Clock setting safely for half a year. Prior to that I had a 875Mhz for the first seven months. thumb.gif

Wow 950 at 1.1v thats very good. I don't have a problem giving mine 1.125v as the temps are fine. 1.15v for benching. Asus (and evga for that matter) allow it so if it causes a problem then they will replace it. But I would say a safe air voltage being conservative is 1.1v.

nope.. i will be browsing the web a little more.
thinking about putting the 580 under water and OCing something to 900-950
post #2898 of 3582
thought i'd share my experiences here. I've had my EVGA 580 1.5GB (non-SC/SSC) since Nov/Dec 2010 before newegg even got them. piss poor overclocker, barely gets a 5% overclock.

refuses to budge past 815MHz core clock. 816MHz is unstable (artifacting) and it's VERY tempermental with voltage; any less or more than 1.050V and it becomes unstable. memory does a little over 2100 but i keep it there to be safe.

it's not the rest of my componets since this card has been through 4 motherboards (one x58, two P67 and a Z68), 3 PSU's (OCZ Fatal1ty 750w, Corsair AX850, Tt Toughpower Grand 750w), several sets of ram, and I've moved to a new place so it's not the powergrid either. all these systems had the same result with overclocking my 580.

I must have bad luck with cards, even if this is a bad bin model my GTX260 SSC was just as bad.

That sucks bro. Truly.

I am curious though, has anyone else seen voltage-tempermental GTX 580's too? most people say they increase volts and they get nice overclocks, meanwhile mine will become unstable even @ stock if the voltage is raised or lowered from 1.050v. bad VRM on my card? or what
