Very nice

So then post some screens of your overclocking tool and the required benchmarks.

It is all in the OP.

Hey guys! I received my EVGA SC 580 about 3 hours ago in the mail and slapped it into my rig (replacing a TFIII 570, refund from Newegg due to OOS). Upon opening afterburner and running a quick 3DMark11 bench, I got these results:

Does that default load voltage seem really high to you guys? Does EVGA give some voltage headroom for OCing, is this a normal range, or did I just get (another) crappy chip? Also, am I in a normal temp range? Ambient temp is 24-25C and I plan of adding a couple more fans + a controller to the case (have controller in but not attached to anything). I may, depending on my finances, grab an aftermarket air cooler like the Arctic XTREME PLUS II is I can find it cheaply.

EDIT: I set the voltage to 1.025V and had a perfectly stable 3DMark11 run. I guess EVGA gives it some extra juice for OCing out of the box?

EDIT2: Dropped my voltage to just above 1.000V and it's still stable @ stock, dropping my temps about 12C (for the quick load test).

EDIT3: DAMNIT! I forgot to get some screws for my fans.

So is 2200MHz the norm for the shader clock?

for a 797MHZ stock core clock 1.1V do not seem normal and most importantly necassary!
0.XXX Volt should be more than enough for sucha low core clock

Also your temps seem very nice for a ref cooler
Nice card

I hope you will try to squeeze the card a little overclockingwise though
The Hall of Fame is still craving more entries^^

The shader clock is always the core clock times 2 so a 2200MHZ Shader clock qould equal a 1100 Core clock and there are only two guys on this thread on LN2 that exceeded 1GHZ in that manner

It can be seen on the Hall of Fame and the V.I.P 1.GHZ section in the OP.

Tonight, when I could be out with friends or looking for some hotties, I will sacrifice my opportunities and see how far I can push this thang! It will be interesting to see if my temps drop at all once I get the silicone pins I ordered for the extra fans (my controller is sitting all alone in my rig with just the power connected).

Just got my EVGA GTX-580 3GB Tri-SLI working beautifully.

Was able to OC to 822MHz without any voltage increase.

Got it perfectly stable at 850MHz @ 1.050V.

Here are the results:

Alright, so I've done a little fooling around with the stock SC voltage (1.082V) and this is the MAXIMUM stable overclock I could get in 3dMark11 basic (waiting for my advanced key from EVGA):

http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1528023

NOTES:

-~22C ambient
-Stock gpu cooling, no extra case fans added (yet), case fans using pwm on board (not hooked to controller yet)
-Default gpu fan profile (barely above 60% speed 2 load)
-Load temp at 86C max (hopefully will come down with extra fans added + fan controller + custom gpu fan profile)
-Haven't touched memory speed yet

This is looking promising for a ref card. What do you all think?

EDIT: My idle temp has dipped below 40C both before I opened the screenied afterburner and after I restarted and opened a new window.

EDIT2:

This is as good as it gets with the stock SC voltage going in increments of 10mhz for the memory(first thumbnail):

923/1115/1846
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1528158

(I didn't realize that OCN had an image up-loader! see below)
(And wow! This card loves to idle low (35C min in pic below))

EDIT3:

I upped it to 1.100V and this is the limit (second thumbnail):
950/1100/1900
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1528222

Still didn't peak above the stock voltage temps(~85C). I might up the voltage tomorrow if I'm feeling suicidal.
