How do you guys check for 580 oc stability ? Is a heaven loop sufficient ? With all settings to the absolute max ? If so for how long ? What do you use ?
Heaven loop has been mostly sufficient for me except for a few really high demanding games.

Once I ran heaven for 12 hrs but crashed in Crysis 2 DX11 with high res texture after 4 hrs of gameplay, since then I always use Crysis 2 to test for stability...but if you don't play games this intensive, heaven should be good enough.

Bottom line is as long as you can run everything you would run on the GPUs without issues then you'll be ok.

Your OC is only as good as your toughest game or app...... if it can run everything you use......good.

3DMark11....I haven't budged from 800 as my cpu oc is a little iffy rolleyes.gif. So far, 800 seems stable on the stock, ahem Zotac stock, voltage (1025Mv). I finally got my cpu oc stable and then 3dMark11 refuses to launch frown.gif

Hello. I recently OCed my Asus GTX580 CU, to 900/1.1/4200, and i cant say i see any real differences.

On a side note, when a game gets slows downs and lower FPS, it will get back again if i lower all eyecandy.

So this premise makes me think that my GPU is actually bottlenecking the rest of the computer.

Once again i saw not noticable perfomance boost, boosting the GPU.

My cpu is OC to 4k Ghz, i2500k along with 8gb Corsair@1600Mhz.

Game of test: Guild Wars 2, at WvWvW enviroment, massive battles.
Any ideas are welcome

Agreed with Sashimi smile.gif
Crysis 2 is quite heavy for test, I used to test my overclocked card with Vantage and 3DMark2011 then Crysis2 benchmark all loop and last real test with playing Crysis 2 in let's say a week and each day I play for 2 - 3hours perhaps biggrin.gif if OK and no problem then I call it stable smile.gif I really like this game so I don't mind to play it again untill finish just for test mycard biggrin.gif

For now I can do 910/2250MHz with default volt and 960/2250 with added +50mv (1.056v). Looking forward for 1GHz rolleyes.gif I hope I could.

Took a few snaps of my rig as per required by this thread.

Power off

Power on, Case close. I don't know why the center of my side fans have different colors. But they look pretty cool.

Power on, Case open

Power on, Close up of GPUs. Cables everywhere tongue.gif

Not to be mean but it really is hard to read what you've written.

Your CPU needs to be OC'd more. The 580 is still incredible powerful, hell the 480 is still pretty powerful. I have a buddy on a 460 that can max almost everything. Few eyecandy turned down but the value for money is simply amazing.

Try getting your cpu to about 4.5-4.8 then see if you can tell the difference. I haven't OC'd at all, no point as the Q6600 can't keep up anyways.

Thanks Sashimi wink.gif btw just recently tested 980/2200 with +112mv passed Vantage. 1GHz needs more than +153mv since I failed at that volt in the middle first VGA test in Vantage. In local review I saw this card needs +175mv to achieve 1GHz.
If my card is a beast then your SLI LIGHTNING are a Monster biggrin.gif btw very nice and great rig you got there, mate thumb.gif
