I have updated to the 310 driver. It is not better or worse than the 306. I did have trouble activating SLI as it gives me BSOD. It worked after I removed all OC settings and re-activated them again after SLI was enabled.

As for comparison between 306 and 290, I find the 306 does transparency and lighting better. This is very noticeable in some areas if you have a habit of making custom application profiles in the nvidia driver settings to crank up video setting beyond game presets and improve eye candy.

They go for around $250-300 USD typically States side.  You may be able to get a bit more for them over there, I'm not sure.

Very honestly speaking, though, you will get more bang for buck with a GTX 670 than bother with GTX 580s if you are buying cards now.

Yes, but there is still a market for Lightnings, as they are probably one of the last NV cards that we will really be able to get to overvolt to our liking.  (I'm referring to out of the box overvolting with software, without having to flash modded bioses, or hardware modify).

i would tell you it's about the same as 1080p ultra with 4xMSAA.

so i play it the same on 1440p without MSAA.

My secondary card stays @ 980mhz. Unfortunately it cannot handle any higher for the things I run.
I always tweaked memory clock and both are now @ 2460mhz stable, effectively 4920mhz. (I did shoot for 2500 but got so very funky artifacts tongue.gif)
Satisfied, I did once more 3dmark11 bench. Probably the last one for these cards as I believe I have already peaked my CPU and GPUs. Here are the results:

Yup my friend told me that 296 driver is the best for overclocking 580 but for optimal & better performance especially with latest games better use 3xx driver smile.gif difference OC is not quite big anyway.

Yes it's +200mV @ 1000mhz. I'm not prepared to go beyond what is allowed in afterburner on voltages tongue.gif. Good luck. Might want to pick a cold winter night though it'll be a tough challenge for the Twin Frozr though it can be done. thumb.gif
