I have 2 x MSI 580 Twinfrozr IIs. I might just be terrible at overclocking, but I can`t raise the vcore more than a VERY small notch before they start hitting 83c + on Kombustor. My case is a HAF X, my room is about 18-19 degrees celsius, and the case has standard HAF X cooling. I`ll do more testing when I get my rig back together, but I see everyone hitting some crazy OCs but mine just refuses to do so. Maybe I got unlucky with my two cards haha.

Have you tried manually adjusting fan speed or set custom curve for temp to fan speed?

I have, the curve I made slopes upwards so as temps go up the fan goes up. However, I still get high temps. I still think I'm doing something wrong, as no one else online had these problems.. unless I got 2 bad cards on 2 separate occasions.

Woiuld the problem have anything to do with the GPU's bios?

Heat per volt should be fixed so if your fans & the heatsink are installed and running correctly there shouldn't be any problems with minor volt bump.

Can you give us the below information for each card

Stock voltage
Overclocked voltage
Stock temp
Overclocked temp
Maximum fan speed (Manually set fan to 100% for easy read.)

Well, I bumped it up till stable at core 1002, mem 1170, shader 2004. Run 3DMark 11, results http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5378315

just out of curiosity have you tried using a different hdmi or dvi cable cause my roomate had this problem and it turned out to be his mini hdmi adapter cable it also started after a year or so
