Guild Wars

Is Guild Wars fun?

I suppose that's my main question. I have heard about the game for some time now but I've never really delved into it. I've played countless of MMOs from Everquest, SWG, WoW, you name it... just curious as what Guild Wars has to offer other than it's free subscription. The main reason for my curiosity is that Guild Wars 2 will be coming out and it seems like a good game, so I would like to download the free trial that they have and give it a go.

you could have posted this in here anyways the game is instanced so if you dont mind that its worth a try, i've logged over 1000 hours into this game, no harm in trying the trial.

I really enjoyed the game a few years back, I probably have over 1000 hours put into it as well. It's a little stale now, but it wouldn't hurt to play it if you're planning on getting GW2, it would set you up a little bit for the sequel.

I installed it for the trial today. Uninstalled 20 minutes later. To each their own.

It is dated and lacks some of the social appeal of a persistent world MMO. I logged over 500 Days in certain MMOs such as FFXI (played for 7 years). Think that is what made me not buy Guild Wars. Without a persistent world I could not see the point.

It's kind of nice not having to deal with anyone but your party members when questing, training, or doing anything else outside of towns.

Exactly, makes leveling on "those" quests much easier. I personally loved the mission system, since Guild Wars was my first "MMO" the missions were a great way to feel like you were making progress. If for nothing else, you have to give them credit for making a unified story line throughout the entire game.

Thanks for the input, definitely sounds like Guild Wars might be worthwhile enough to atleast do the trial.

It was hard for me to get in to but I had a friend help me and it made the game much more appealing.
