FIOS -- 15/5 or 25/25 or 50/20 Mbps?

So I am moving to a new location in New York City and these are the current options being considered for FIOS speeds. I haven't had the chance to stress test any of these options empirically (I don't know too many other people who actually use FIOS here in NYC), and so it's hard for me to see how they actually compare to what I am using now.

I usually do a lot of websurfing, gaming, and torrenting. We're using cable right now, and my download speeds on torrents, on a good day, operate at an upperbound threshold of 350-400ish kB/second (rarely ever higher than this).

Which option do you think would be the most appropriate? Would the 25/25 option be more than enough to handle things?

on a 25/25 you would most likely see 1.5 - 2 mbps downloads average, it should be a nice upgrade over your current setup. (theoretical 3.15mbps, but no one really sees the theoretical speeds) - of course it will depend on time of day and how many users are on as well smile.gif

I have the 25/25 and i find it to be perfect. Ive never found myself longing for faster Internet so if you go with that i think you should be happy.

My current speedtest:

My question is whether or not I would be begging for faster internet on the 15/5 option. If so, I might go with the 25/25.

Again, it all depends on what youre comfortable with - it looks like what you currently have is pretty much a 15/5 connection - if you feel that is adequate that you'll be fine, personally I don't like having d/l speeds slower than 1mbs

This is my sentiment too. I'd love to have >1Mbps speeds. Will probably go with the 25/25 option.

Thanks for the advice, everyone.

uuuuuummmm the 15/5 means 15mbps down/5mbps up.

anyways, i would probably go with 15/5, my dad used to have 25 down, but even with the 3 of us playing bfbc2 online (me, dad, brother) we werent pulling 11mbps through his router, so we went down to 15, and its perfect.

you won't be disappointed, but i don't see much wrong with your current internet. im living with verizon mobile internet dongle.

Just FYI, don't torrent much on FIOS - they are tracking IPs. Yeah I know, totally legit, etc etc.
