these cards are so badly thought out in regards to airflow...

if you add a intake fan above them, they will reuse the hot air they already exhausted, if you add a intake fan behind them by the power connector, there is a fan there aswell that would blow the oposite direction.

I cant think of one way that you can place a fan for this card without obstructing any air

Two could be short but one would have to be long like the one that came with our mobo.

You should first try and put some better thermale paste on your GPU"s. If that does not help get a after market heat sink for the 1st GPU. If your case is a mid size case, get a full size case. I have a thermaltake armor extreme witch has 3 120mm fans in the front. They need to make special motherboards so that you can have room inbetween a 3 way SLI setup.

I am fairly confident this will solve your problem, as you mentioned 2 way SLI was fine with temperatures, but 3 way caused problems. This way there will be only two cards stacked on top of each other, which we already know is fine from your 2 way SLI results, and the top card will be kinda on its own.

Actually with our board I'd imagine that he ran two SLI with two slots of open space between them, so I don't think he ever ran two cards without a space successfully. I could be wrong but that's how it's recommended to be done on our board.

I am thinking of getting a HAF X and 2 additional flex SLI bridges (since I already have one)

I noticed the Azza Hurricane 2000 is about $50 cheaper than a HAF X. Anyone have any experience with this case or is HAF X the way to go?

I just hope this will actually work...

Try it open bench before you drop $200+ tax/shipping on a case to just hope it works. Then again it's your money so do what you want, you just asked for help.

The 2 way SLI had a X-Fi card between the GPUs, so I am concerned that #2 and #3 will still be next to each other in the new system and could have the same thermal issues.

I would probably say that HAF X would be the way to go with your cards, it should be just about ideal as long as the side panel fan doesn't overpower the flow of the exhaust from the GPU fans. It shouldn't because I don't think it spins all that fast. I'm not familiar with the other case you mentioned, but HAF X should be just about the best you could get for your cards, and I wouldn't recommend cheaping out on case or cooling when running 3 hot GPUs.
